Screw Broken in Ladies YG President

Hi...

Last night I was sizing my mom's president and the screw cracked, leaving the thread portion inside the bracelet and the other 3/4 length of the screw just slid out.

Do you think a watchmaker would be able to take it out?

Anyone have any recommendations of someone I could send it to?

Thanks,
Chris

IIRC, the other end of the screw is exposed, and if so any good watchmaker should be able to remove the rest of the screw.

Gold is pretty soft so tapping a fine screwdriver on the end of the screw should create enough of a slot to remove it...

I would give it a try. You may have the wrong loctite on the threads since the screw broke. In that case I would let a professional take it out.

The end that's stuck isn't exposed but I will take it to a local watch maker in Seattle to see if they can tap a slot and remove it.

I made sure to steam heat the area before attempting to remove the screw and used the 80 screwdriver from the official Rolex sizing kit. But I think the ladies screws are just so small just a little torque can break it.

Thanks guys!

My watchmaker was not to keen on replacing a link on my wife's president for exactly this reason. He said that if it breaks he would not be able to get it out. I asked him to go ahead nonetheless and it worked out fine.
Perhaps a goldsmith is the person you need to see for this.

Really? It's a blind screw?

I didn't know that...

Honestly, one of the best goldsmith's I've ever done business with, is right there in Seattle, but I'm not sure if they work for walk-in customers as well.
All the Ben Bridge stores in Seattle use them though, so if I was you I would go to BB and ask them to send the bracelet to Michael's. Tell them to only fix the link and to NOT POLISH! Trust me on this.

Vanessa:

Anyway to get a hold of Michael directly? I don't mind going to Ben Bridge since its near my house but I'd like to deal directly if possible. :)

Thanks!!!
