Dear Members,
I ask you if there is a place in this forum where pictures of overpolished watches are posted. In short, I need to learn how to identify and avoid those, since I always buy used watches. If there is a topic with "right and wrong" results to expect, it would be nice to see. PLease, let me know if there is this topic somewhere here. I also understand that from a collector standpoind, they will always prefer not polished watches. But this is not my case.

Well, it is probably best to know what the original looks like then go from there. The satin grain should be straight and consistent, and no rounded edges, and no rounded bevels on watch cases that had originally.

You can tell a watch that has been polished when it is old, worn, yet no real scratches.

The rolex sign on the clasp is a good indication

Protruding springbars are one of the more obvious signs of overpolishing.

The crown guards is another area. If it's thin, then 100% has been polished before. I saw one for sale where the seller said watch is 100% unpolished. But u can tell from the crown guards that it's not true at all.

Uneven sized lugs of any sort (crown or bracelet).
