hello;

new to this forum. never knew there was a forum for rolex owners.

the submanier i have has a stainless band, code is s3. the safety clasp is gone to parts unknown, e.g. band no longer has a safety clasp.

not having a safety clasp on the band is a big conern to me. how, when, where, do i find a replacement safety clasp? is there measurments i need to take to make sure a replacement safety clasp fits? at this point i don't care if the safety clasp is a rolex or not. thanks for any input.

Welcome to TRF!

Just take your Sub to the nearest AD (Authorized Dealer) and he will fix it for you on site or send it to RSC (Rolex Service Centre). I bet your Sub is from 1994. If you have never had it serviced, now is the time. A Rolex ought to be serviced every 5th. year or so.

The "S3" on your clasp is the date code for the clasp.

"S3" means that the CLASP was made in March 1994 (not necessarily the same time as the watch CASE was made, btw.)

Dunno. Can't be a fortune!

A complete service (which it recommended if you never had it serviced before, as stated) is about 500 US $.

don't think you want a pic of my submariner.

pls. don't take offence but to me this watch is just a tool to tell time and keep peace with my other half, i.e. wife. she gave me the watch on our 25th wedding anniversary.

watch sees ruff use, example, how about throwing 100# sacks of corn off a flat bed truck, down into a storeage area. tell you for a fact, if your submariner's watch band gets hooked in a sack you are throwing you will follow that sack of corn. most watch bands would not have made it.

It is ALWAYS interesting to see these watches in their line of duty.

PLEASE post pics so that we may all benefit from seeing what happens when Rolexes meet sacks of corn. It just helps us appreciate their ruggedness even more ;)

Post some pictures of the watch. If you were throwing sacks of corn maybe another farmer?

Maybe seed corn bags? 100 bags, if they were 80k bags and a 33k population you could plant 242 acres.

I sent my SS Date to RSC 22 days ago and they among other things are replacing the clasp. It had been 15 years since it last service so they wanted to replace a number of things that I can't remember. The total was about $950. I will post some pics when it is returned and give you the full cost breakdown.
