Omega 8500

Guys, I just had to post this beauty - apologies if they have already been posted. Omega's CEO says it will eventually replace the Cal. 2500 (but I guess that's some way out).

Enjoy.

Hi there!

Yep, the 8500 has now been around for about a year. It was introduced
last year in the gorgeous "Hour Vision" model.

It will eventually indeed replace the 2500 and its derivatives, and the 8500
will serve as a basis for many future developments. An Annual Calendar, a
big date and a GMT are planned based around the 8500 and in one or two
years Omega will introduce a new chronograph movement based around the
principles of its new 8500 calibre!

Here are a few quick shots of the 8500 that powers my HV...

Not nearly as good as the publicity photos... but still... a heck of a wonderful
movement it is!!!!!

The 8500 / 8501 (for the version with the golden rotor & balance bridge) has
been in (secret) development since 2000, and it is a extremely important
step in Omega's latest history, as it marks the company's return to its glorious
days of being a true "manufacture" again...

And in terms of pure accuracy, nothing has amazed me more than the 8500.
Ever since I first got the HV in August 2007, it has been my most accurate
and best time-keeper. I'm not talking about +/- a second per day... but a
mere + seconds a month!!!!! Last time I kept track of it, she ran at roughly
+4 seconds a month...!!! No joke!!!

An amazing achievement & great movement that hopefully foreshadows even
greater things to come... Let's see what Baselworld will bring this year...

That is one gorgeous movement..

The full bridge adds some rigidity to the balance...
