A nice tourneau thread

I'm vacationing in Palm Beach at the moment and stopped in at their store on Worth Ave. Beverly met me at the front door and assisted me throughout my sightseeing adventure.

After seeing their prices, she knew I wasn't a buyer but stuck around to talk watches anyways. And she didn't call mine a fake!

She encouraged me to try on the new line, including the new SD (very heavy). Just wanted to give a positive review to an oft-maligned chain. They're not all like the LV store!

Honestly, I don't hate Tourneau, in fact I bought a Sub NDc there this very week. Usually I buy from TRF sellers or other sources, but due to their financing plan and the fact that I come in and kick tires constantly, figured I'd finally give them some business. They've always been very nice to me.

They aren't all bad. The prices on their used pieces are ridiculous tho.

When I visited the Time Machine in NY they were strangely very pleasant.

Thanks for starting a nice positive thread.

I have had excellent service from the various Tourneau stores that I have visited, except for the Las Vegas branch whose salespeople show a combination of arrogance and ignorance.

In fact, I purchased my GMT IIC from the Tourneau branch in the Roosevelt Field, Long Island Mall, and my Omega Speedmaster from the Walt Whitman Long Island branch.

The salespeople vary in knowledge about the various brands, but the best advice for any purchase is for you to be more knowledgable than the salepeople, which most TRFers are.

I agree that their prices for pre-owned are very high. A 12 year old Daytona SS for $14,500? They gave me the usual garbage about these are very scarce.

I had a positive experience at the LV store a couple weeks ago. Walked in wearing my IWC GST Perpetual Calendar - saleswoman complimented it right away and actually knew a lot about the watch. She proceeded to let me try on a few PPs and VCs - all of which I knew more about than her - but she was still very pleasant.

After all that, I ended up buying a watch from a different boutique, haha... But a pleasant experience at Tourneau nonetheless. My dad bought a Breguet Mark diver from there 5 years ago and had a great experience as well. He even managed to get a nice discount somehow... Just goes to show, YMMV.

No problem with the Tourneau in Pentagon City, Arlington VA. But like everyone else notes, prices on used are sky high. A PP 5053R I like was selling for 36K. In decent shape. PP sellers online sell the same watch, some NOS or mint, for around 24K.

I've always had a good experience in the Chi location, but the stopper for me relates to pricing.

I actually like the LV store, on several occasions (probably 3-4x's in last 2 years) I've been left completely alone to wander around and look without pressure.

The usual experience at one is to get tackled upon entry and have them chirping in your ear while you walk around the store not get more than 3 ft from you the entire time you are in the store

Only been to two Tourneau stores, though both several times. Never bought from them tho.

Chicago - great experience and friendly staffer every time I have stopped in.

Atlanta - snooty staff who, thank goodness, mostly ignore you.

I've never had a positive experience at Turd-NO! I've only gone into the Waikiki store twice and both times I was ignored by staff looking to only sell to Japanese tourists. When I did approach a sales person the person barely spoke English making it hard to have any sort of conversation whatsoever. They also had an SS Daytona on sale for $17,000 LOL!

FWIW, at least at the Time Machine in NYC, the Rolex salespeople know what they are talking about. The guy I worked with for my recent purchase had been the Rolex guy at Tourneau for 26 years, at several locations.

I think they shuffle the reps for the other brands around which makes them a lot less knowledgeable. I had to explain to the Breitling saleswomen that a new bracelet was released a year ago and after going through all the books they didn't understand. Walked across to the Breitling boutique and they had it for me and fitted to my watch in 10 minutes.

A nice tourneau thread

I've had a few subpar experiences at tourneau.

Last time I was at the Walt Whitman location in Huntington, NY -- the rep was trying to sell me an "automatic" 3570.50 Speedmaster.

Pre owned prices are also ridiculous.

the Scottsdale, AZ store has always been great to me. no discounts, but the trade in offers
have always been very generous. the Scottsdale store is staffed by WIS. maybe that's the
difference.

I know I may look fairly young, but that doesn't give you reason to ask "is it time to get a grown up watch now?"

Looking at you, SF.

She must have been having a "good" day..... I can't tell you how many times I get attitude from her and the other 3 stooges that surround her chit chatting while I'm dying to ask questions....
There's a foreign gentleman that works there, obviously the outcast as he gets the dirty looks from her and the 3 musketeers...he does an outstanding job at making you feel like a king.....

Sorry, had to throw in my reality as I'm a resident here and have to deal with that circus every now and then....
