Thanks Carl, but I really hope this isn't the case. I doubt I'd ever flip this one and my other half would go crazy if I bought an additional piece!

214270 Explorer
Perfect choice for your first, of perhaps, many Rolexes.
The Explorer 1 represents an important chapter of the Rolex sport watch legacy. I think the 214270 fits into any collection and it is a better choice as a dress watch with a suit and tie than a Sub-GMT-EXPII. Enjoy! |

Congratulations. I echo your sentiments, a great watch and the only ever present in my continually evolving collection. I absolutely love my explorer and would never get rid, the hands feel perfect to me and I agree this watch looks equally at home in dinner suit, in the office suit and in shorts and t shirt on the beach. Its the watch I plan to hand down to my son at some point.
Enjoy the watch you deserve it and I look forward to hearing about your next purchase......? |

I completely agree with your assessment! When I bought mine, earlier this year, I didn't know what to expect, but now it is one of my absolute favorite watches. Extremely comfortable, can be dressed up or down, rugged, classy and under the radar...a lifetime keeper for me.

Thanks for sharing and nice post. I am in the "process" right now, just have to decide if it΄s going to be 114270 or the 214270.

Great choice and it truly is the only Rolex one needs. I used to flip watches every couple of months until I got my Explorer over a year ago. Since I bought it, nothing else has been on my wrist and I've had no (well... not much anyways) desire to get a new watch!

Congrats on your selection. I love the Explorer as well. I've been really considering getting one as my next purchase. It's between that and the Exp II. Wear in good health.
