Weird mark under submariner crystal?
So I got my 16610LV serviced at a well known watch store in Miami. I hadn't serviced it in about 5 years and hardly ever wore it. I recently went on a dive and later that day I noticed a sort of smudge on the inside crystal at about the 7 o'clock mark. I had my watch pressure tested before and it was good to go. What can it be? I have a 1 year guarantee, should I take it back?

Kind of difficult to discern, but it looks like it could be damaged or is maybe excess grease seeping out where the crystal meets the inner bezel lip? Is there supposed to be a gasket there?

Looks like moisture, maybe the crown was not closed tight? Imho you dont loose anything by taking it back to check this out. Sooner is better ;)

I know it's a pain but you should take it back and get it checked. Looks a tad strange.

My Daytona had a smudge of white grease around that area. It was lube they put on a gasket. I found this on a new un-serviced watch. It was no issue and I wore it for years before sending it to Rolex for service just as the original warranty was expiring.
I would have it checked though as many have stated.... just in case.....

UPDATE:
I got my watch back today and thankfully there was no water damage. It appears that some grease had made its way passed the gasket. He only took a few hours to get it cleaned up and relubed. Thanks again to everyone! |
