What is the difference, beside price on 18k buckles?

The more expensive buckles on the internet (over $1,000) are stamped 'Rolex' on the back.

Then, there is another larger class of buckles available that sell for in the $300 range that are stamped 'Swiss' with no Rolex stamp on the back.

What does this mean? Are the one's stamped 'Rolex' authorized Rolex buckles and the others aftermarket produced?

No Rolex made many styles. They tend to charge more if marked Rolex and of they still have the gold springbar which can be bought easily.

Good to know. After researching this for a while now, I think I'll go for gold plated buckle as they still look great and any expensive buckle I find really adds no value to the watch. Plus, the GP are practically free. Quite a savings over solid gold.

Photos coming... I will not be getting a buckle for a month as my watch is in for full service, the watch repair shop has the GP buckles. So there are genuine Rolex GP buckles also? That is good to know too. I will post pictures when the time comes.

Here are a few choices from Rolex 1 page of 4, GP buckles are available in this official Rolex band catalogue. Gp buckle and band is about 350 at an Authorised dealer.
