It would be good to piggy back this with a visit to Fourtane in Carmel.

Great event BTW. I've only been once even though I live in the area.

I was planning a car trip up the coast a few years ago and when I went to book a room in the area the only thing available was a Motel 6 in Monterey at $500/night! When I inquired WTF, came to find out it was the week of the Concourse. That's when I realized what a big deal the event was.

Probably almost as impressive as the cars are the aircraft parked at Monterey airport that week.

I tried to book a room the last couple of years, no luck, rooms are booked 5 years or more in advance for that weekend.
I hear some bay area rolex guys are driving down for the fourtane event.

We usually head up every year and attend the races at Laguna Seca. Thankfully, my wife loves going as much as I do. This year, my father-in-law is having hip replacement surgery tomorrow, so it would be tough (in poor taste) for us to sneak away this weekend if he's not feeling better...we may still sneak up there at the last minute.

A few of our neighbors up there will rent out their houses for the two week period. It really is next to impossible for hotels rooms in Monterey (and even as far inland as Salinas) if you haven't booked already.
