My dinner with the 'Lunar Dust'...
I had a rare opportunity to dine with a true celebrity this past weekend, and thought I would share my amazing experience...
I was a very fortunate guest of Omega for the PGA championship in Louisville Kentucky. Unless you've been living under a rock the past few years, you should all know that Omega is the Official time keeper of the PGA, and Omega Ambassador Rory Mcilroy is not only two-time winner of this tournament, but is the top ranked golfer in the World... So naturally, Omega was in a celebratory mood this weekend. However, the experience that was most impressive for me took place far away from any putting green or tee box... By whatever serendipitous happenstance, I found myself sitting across from Raynald Aeschlimann - (Vice-president of Omega)... He was, as the thread title would suggest, wearing an OMEGA "lunar Dust"... I believe I may infact be a Jedi master, because within minutes, this watch was on my wrist, and remained there until after the post dinner cocktails... DSC00496.jpg DSC00498.jpg As much as I had tried to capture the beauty of this watch... it really just needs to be seen to be truly appreciated... DSC00505.jpg Keep in mind that this is all in low-light - which does give it a richer, warmer glow (something actually observed 'on the wrist') DSC00512.jpg No still image can catch the sparkle in the platinum dial... DSC00503.jpg DSC00502.jpg or the shine and depth of colour in the grey ceramic... DSC00501.jpg DSC00503.jpg What really struck me was how enjoyable it is to wear. I usually prefer the heft of full gold or bulky steel divers, but the light weight of the ceramic was surreal... when trying on the Dark side at a boutique the light wieght was a turnoff, because of the knee-jerk reaction to the lack of heft... but after having it on the wrist for more than 5 minutes, it really started to feel natural, and very comfortable. a true 'test drive'... I cannot fully convey how much I love this watch... The grey is so much more rich and complex than the Black DSOM. and the Platinum adds so much more luxury and creates a more chic stylish effect... And yet, earlier in the Day, when Raynald wore it with jeans and sweater...it looked just as fitting. In all likelihood, this watch will not make it under the tree for Christmas, Optimistic expectation brings it to 'Early' 2015... but it will be worth the wait... ..oh, But don't feel bad for Raynald... In exchange, he got to eat dinner with my RG HV DSC00510.jpg .... and my wife... DSC00506.jpg I still think I did ok in the trade...... |

Yeah, I offered him a straight up trade...
I was really excited, because he initially accepted, but then it got awkward when I asked for my Hour vision back... |
