Hi Guys,
Bas..how exciting! Moving out, starting school & living it up young man...as you should at your age. Wow..school is just around the corner too. All in all, you seem pretty settled. ![]() ![]() Wes..awesome car. I like your car better, I dont do so well with convertible cars. Messes up the hair! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Leo..glad all is well with you... ![]() Carl...you too. Glad to see you are ok as well. Have you been able to enjoy the short summer we had? Seems things are quiet here in the coffee shop. I hope Lisa is doing well & the car reno isn't taking all her time & sanity. We need pics of the progress.. ![]() Where are all the other girls? Karis...how is the baby? I bet growing like a weed! Dawna..reno's done? My favourite channel is HGTV. We need pics. ![]() Not much going on with me. I'm still off with this hand. I've been wearing the splint less & less. Its going SO SLOW. Saw the plastic surgeon on Wednesday last week & she's pleased the joint is stable which means no surgery. Whew! She said about another 4-6 weeks & I'll be good to go. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I'm glad you don't need surgery Judy.
My uncle needed surgery when he broke his ankle a few years ago, and even though surgery can definitely be of help in some occasions it can also impair the ability of certain movements so I'm happy you don't need surgery in your hand and I'm sure your hand will be 'as good as new' in a few weeks time ![]() |

Bas,
It's great to hear about your new place, I wish you a lot of fun in it and hope to read more in the next months. ![]() Now if you ever get a hard time in the kitchen, tell them about me...with the quantity of food I eat they'll be grateful I didn't move in with them! ![]() Judy, glad to hear from you. ![]() ...But what is that "Summer" you're talking about? ![]() ![]()

Yeah love Dino's, Judy. Should of been a Paleontologist, although that Boomer thing just looks annoying. Glad to hear your love life is going well.

...But what is that "Summer" you're talking about?
![]() ![]() Seriously Carl.. ![]() I'm starting to think of another watch. Maybe you guys can give me your thoughts. I want a blue dial. The styles I like are discontinued styles. And of course, most that are available are too big. I can wear a 41mm Breitling & Omega as they fit the same as my 40mm Sub. The shorter, curved lugs are more comfortable. Resale value isn't an issue, I wont be flipping it. So here are my rambling thoughts.... 1. Rolex 16200 which is older but dial seems darker than the present DJ, which I tried on. I was a bit underwhelmed by the 116200 as I had thought this would be the next one. I'm not a fan of the YM sandblasted bezel & the higher price tag. The DJ II blue sticks dial seems darker than the DJ dial. ![]() 2. Breitling...Auto Colt II. I like this style a lot. Flatter blue but this watch talks to me. I like the brushed bezel. 4. Breitling Cockpit. The blue on this one is dark & silky looking. I like the brushed bezel which is the same. Overall a regal looking watch if I can descibe it as such. 5. Galactic 36. I like it & fits very well. I'm not that fond of the bezel. I was sent a pic from an AD with a blue dial & it did look pretty nice. Is 36mm too. This isn't that much more expensive than the older models I would have to buy pre-owned so is a possibility for sure. 6. Omega PO,..37.5. Only comes with titanium bracelet. The blue is dark. Although, would be lighter. Just not crazy about the blue. Guess I might have to try it on again. 7. Omega Speedmaster Date..(at the 3 position). There are a few around. I don't see many having this one, mainly black. But is a possibility. I did try on a black one at the store the other day. Looked good. Fit well too. Lugs weren't off my wrist. So..thoughts on styles & thoughts on movements welcome. ![]() ![]() I probably should post in the general discussion section.. I'll do that too..just want to get an idea of your thoughts here. |

All good choices Judy, lots of one's I would of said. I would of picked the datejust, or maybe even an airking, rolex blues are really nice, but you already have a datejust?
I like the colt 2 watch, even the quartz one, the dial is so nice. What about an aquaterra, 38.5? Or the older wave dial seamaster? I'd like a reverso myself. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Hi Wes...
I do have a DJ already but the next one would be a smooth bezel-oyster bracelet, with stick dial. See...there is something about that Colt. Breitling had their reasons for discontinuing it but imo, a bad decision. I did try on the AT..I wasn't wowed by it. I loved the colour, but I didnt like the batons. I'll have to go back & try it on again. Didn't think of the Reverso. It's very pretty. I dont know JLC that well but I'm thinking price wise its higher than what a new DJ would be new. Thank you for your opinions :-) |

The cockpit I remember was 41mm, and a pretty watch.
Most reverso's don't do as good as Rolex on the 2nd hand market, but most are white faced, not sure it would be easy to find a blue face one. |

Forgot to tell you Wes but I really enjoyed your pictures of that museum. I'm a big dinosaur man myself so it was great to see those.
![]() Judy, all the watches you mentioned are good choices but it's really a matter of tastes. Since the Reverso was brought up I have to say it would be my choice though... ![]() ![]() As for our so-called Summer...I can't say I'm impressed by it (especially given the Winter we had to go through). Good news is, while I had my week off it was pretty hot and sunny.

Carl, I was looking at older PP models on the internet the other day and saw some pictures of the 3820R Calatrava, I think I'm in love
![]() Picture from google: The lugs, breguet numerals, hands and 32mm diameter make it the perfect Calatrava.. ![]() |

Yes Bas, I've seen that model before and had the same reaction...I really love its style.
There's something about the very elegant Breguet numerals and hands, they really are something. As for the lugs, simply magnigicent... ![]() The size is perfect for me but alas it would be its downside for many, it's a thing one must consider when looking for old watches though.

Wes, thanks for the confirmation of the Cockpit. I've been reading conflicting information. It's a lovely watch.
I'm going to say no to the Reverso. I'm looking for something sporty. Some Rolex blues are nice but not sure Im wowed by the 116200 dial. Johny recently put up a pic with his blue stick DJ & the dial was darker than the one I saw. Could also be lighting too. Thanks Stephen for posting the Deville. Its a beautiful watch. :-). |

[QUOTE=Art 1;5212243]There's always the white gold version.
![]() I love that Sub..even with the diamond markers. Still very sporty but not overdone. I need to try on that YM again. I love that blue, its the darn bezel I'm not super wild about. I would love it to be polished not sandblasted. Eh, at least looking for a new watch is keeping me off the diamond websites. ![]() ![]() I know its nuts, I keep looking at that damn Breitling. I have always loved the Colt. I bought my ex-husband one many yrs ago with Blue dial & I bought the creamy white dial one for my brother last summer. Since I got him his, I've been enamoured with it. I just have to find one that isn't outrageously expensive for an old watch & a Breitling at that. ![]() OR... DJ...blue dial, white sticks, smooth bezel, & oyster bracelet. DONE. ![]() |

Judy, what about a Milgauss with the blue dial and green crystal or the AirKing with a blue dial(I believe Rolex makes one of those too)!!!

Leo...I was searching around for an AirKing too. The DJ seemed to pull at me more. I tried on the new Oyster Perpetual in the Grape colour with sticks. If that baby came in blue I probably would have bought it on the spot. I really liked it. Ever since I got my ND Sub, I've come to appreciate watches without a date. I dont rely on looking at my watch for the date nearly as much as I had once thought. So..if the OP came in a nice blue, that would be it. BUT...it doesn't.
![]() ![]() ![]() Bas...Beautiful watch. I'm aiming for sporty or sporty casual. ![]() Greg...I would take them all too if someone handed them to me. ![]() |

I did want to add that I tried on the Oyster Perpetual in the new "steel" colour dial. I really liked it. Was much deeper than the silver colour and very visible with the white sticks. So for those that want the sticks without a date, should go try it on. Not to mention is less expensive without the date. Plus..is a masculine looking watch, which I like. I have considered re-looking this watch as would go with anything. LOL I wear a lot of blue & purple, black & jewel tones. So...is an option. :-) When I go back to the AD, I'll take some pics & post. :-)

Judy, I do understand about not being enamored with the Lightning Bolt secondhand cause I've heard a lot of people saying the same thing.....but think about those "very few mornings" when you wake up from a night of imbibing and then it works quite well!!! LOL!!!
![]() PS. When you do go back to the Rolex AD check out the #177200, it's a No Date and comes in many options. I have seen the Blue dial but it comes with Roman Numerals. And Pam, my dear Lady, last year to celebrate our 35th Anniversary(can you believe she has put up with me for that length of time)we purchased the Black Dial with pink 3, 6, and 9 numerials and then sticks at the rest of the Markers. To her and me it looked fantastic and while we were finishing the sale two other women came in looking for that same specific watch and the AD had to order that watch combo for them!!! ![]()
