trade my SDDS for a Daytona 116520 black dial
Hello guys
I'm thinking to trade my SDDS bought new in January 2014, and buy a Daytona 116520, black dial. Do you think it's a good idea? The SDDS is a fantastic watch but the weight makes this time piece really uncomfortable. The only Daytona' drawback is a size a bit small, and I am afraid to be tired of, quickly. Please let me know your thoughts. Is anyone went for the same trade? Have a good Friday Laurent |

You mean DSSD? Those two watches wear very differently. Thickness wise especially. Sounds like you would like a slimmer watch for wearability but maybe would like to keep some of the wrist presence of the rolex dive watches. Maybe the submariner could do it for you?

Hello
Yes you're right I own a deepsea. Regarding the Sub, I already got 2 in the past, 16610 and a 116610, but wrist presence wise, I was not completely satisfied. the Daytona is a kind of dream watch, but I am afraid to be tired after some time on the wrist because of the 40mm diameter. I really don't know what to do. I can go with the daytona, and if I am not really convinced, I can trade it and go with something else, this is a never ending story |

I personally prefer the Deepsea by far.
If the size / weight is an issue, the new ceramic Seadweller might be worth a look for you. |

I've tried the New Seadweller, and to be honest, I've not been really impressed that much by this novelty.
I prefer the dial of the SubC which is more shinny |

I don't think the Daytona will become boring and it wears much lighter than the DS. Go for it

The Daytona wears much smaller than the DSSD. Have you considered a YM2? It has the size of the DSSD without the thickness.

Be careful....I dreamt of having a Daytona for years. Finally got one last Christmas. Unfortunately I am not in love with it, and it will not be with me much longer.

two vastly different watches. I have both and both are comfortable on my 6.5 inch wrist
the DSSD needs to be sized correctly with the diver extension removed. if it has been sized correctly it should be very comfortable, if it is not for you the Daytona is an awesome watch but big size difference try the Daytona on and you decide! |

I completely agree with this... I had a Daytona in the past, nice but after getting the Deep Sea I do not think I could go back, small and no date are deal breakers for me. It sounds like you may need to have it sized properly, with the diver extension removed as stated earlier.
Good Luck with your decision! |

You might be a flipper. That's ok...but if you tire of watches easily, that's your lot.

I would keep the DSSD, as I´ve tried it on and it does not feel huge on my wrist. If the watch is uncomfortable, as you say, and the Daytona seems to small, why not compromise with a SD4K? You get the looks of the sub, but slightly bigger, and not as uncomfortable for you?

Do the trade.
If you change your mind, trade the Daytona for another Rolex. You're not going to know about the Daytona until YOU live with it. I and others love it as our first choice, others hate it from the start, still others find they didn't like it after they thought they wanted it. Only way to know is make the switch. Fortunately you are talking two "liquid" or in-demand Rolexes, so any financial loss will be negligible when you're finally satisfied. |

Subc date seems bigger/more presence than than the SDC 4k, al least to my eyes at an AD that allowed me to compare the two.

I recently traded my P series sub for a black dialed Daytona and couldn't be happier. I simply love this watch. It does sound though that you already have reservations with the Daytona. If so, it probably won't work out well for you and you'll likely be disappointed. There are a lot of great watches in this price range so I would suggest taking your time to find something you really like now and that you'll like well into the future.

Maybe a TT Daytona would be a way of having your dream watch but with more presence and heft? Panda dial is stunning.

I am 49, don't wear glasses... Yet.... And I have zero problems with reading the time.
Mine is a white dial, soon to be swapped to a black at the RSC. |

I did a very similar trade; Deepsea for a white dial Daytona (I did add funds) and I regretted it. Although my wrist is only 6.5", after wearing the Deepsea, the Daytona seemed too small. That said, it was the fourth Daytona I've owned and for some reason I continue to go through them.
I agree with others, you must remove the extension link to make the DSSD comfortable. Like a few of us, you may have have contracted 'flipper-itus'...unfortunately, I am not aware of a cure. |

This however I own both the SD ceramic and the DSSD Blue. For me these are both keepers. The Daytona is beautiful but as mentioned does wear small for a 40mm watch. In addition coming from the DSSD it is going to feel terribly small. I would look at something else in the professional line like a Sub or GMT as they wear larger however are still 40mm
