AD Visit - Patek Annual Calendars

Dropped by the AD today to check out some PP Annual Calendar watches, probably my second favorite complication as I love the moonphase and practicality of the complication (my favorite complication is the minute repeater, which is on a whole different level). Both the 5205G and 5396 are truly stunning, although having just picked up the 5167R I wasn't about to walk out with another one today

It's the first time I've had the chance to see the 5205G grey dial in person, which had always been my favorite version, and it didn't disappoint. I love the case lug design, but as I have been shifting towards thinner watches, the 5205 sat a bit higher than I had expected, although it will still fit easily under a shirt cuff.

The 5396 with its classic calatrava design makes it more dressy, and the case is also thinner than the 5205. I'd happily take either one home, but not today. However, I didn't leave the AD empty handed, as the AD was kind enough to give me a copy of the Patek 175th Anniversary book!

Below are a few pics I took. The AD actually had a IWC grande complication on display as well, but I was so excited to see the PPs that I forgot to take a photo of the amazing IWC. Hope you enjoy.

AD Visit - Patek Annual Calendars

I tried these on a couple of weeks ago and they are both stunning! I need to stay away for a while!

My AD had no idea what this book is? I want one! Lol!

I tried on that 5205 and it didn't wow me to be honest, colours were too muted. Would love to see the black and rose gold when it comes in, but the Nautilus/Aquanaut's sportier design is more my preference.

Black dial 5205R with lacquer dial is one hot watch...Completely changes dynamics of this watch! Also quite hard to get with long wait.

PS. Now if you take the 5396 and change it to a 5496-014 P with honey brown dial then we are talking GRAIL! One of my favorite new Pateks and one of nicest in their lineup IMHO!

Just a tad bit more expensive though!

That would be amazing if Patek will put the 5496-014 dial onto the 5396! That honey brown dial is absolutely stunning.

They will never do it but the 5496-014 is amazing and one of best PC's I have seen in recent years along with the 5940J. They would make one heck of a PC pair!

Great pics
I sure love my 5205R-010, can't stop staring at it. The 5396 it's a more classic design, boring for some and timeless for others.

Your 5205 black dial definitely pops a lot more than the Grey dial, that's for sure, too bad the AD didn't have a black dial for me to see.

Yes they will never do it but would be nice to dream about it. I have never been a big fan of retrogrades but I really like the 5496-014 a lot.

There is a 5205r black dial at the NYC Tiffany's salon if any New Yorkers care to see one in the metal. Just saw it recently. Beautiful!

Yes, definitely a good day in my book. Of course when I told my wife where I went and that I was able to pick up the 175th anniversary book on my day off she just rolled her eyes at me

Love the dial on the 5205. The 5396 has the classic Patek look. Thanks for sharing with us.

RG/black looks amazing, the watch wears surprising well too, the downward angle of the lugs make it comfortable to strap on

I never realize that you are right ! , that's why it's so easy to swap from Nautilus to this one. Hey, sometimes I wear it with shorts

This might show the downward angle a little bit better

Amazing pictures!! I was pretty set on the white dial after looking at Benlee's photos but now I am vacillating again!!
I need to try to look at them in person and decide.

Good luck !
