New 16700, thoughts?

So here's the GMT I just bought. Thoughts?

Love it but now I'm a bit concerned about polishing and it being an aftermarket bezel, how's it look? Was told everything is authentic and it was purchased from a reputable boutique

Pics could be clearer, but looks good to me. Why do you think the insert is aftermarket?

Looks good to me; mine came with the standard bracelet and not the jubilee (not sure if that was an option). There is a great thread on the 16700s in the Reference Section. You might also check the end links and bracelet and see how things line up.

Here is the link...

Jubilee bracelet was always an option for the 16700.

Comparing it to other pictures but may just be my eye. Also seems like it has little to no wear so if it was replaced how can I confirm it was made by Rolex?

I'll post better pics with the arms' camera in the morning

My 1991 16700 came with jubilee bracelet:

Looks ok to me. Some have serif numbers, some do not...maybe that is the difference you are seeing. Also, some seem to fade faster than others, depending on outdoor exposure maybe.

You can always take it to RSC and get a service estimate. They will identify any non rolex parts they find.

Took it in to RSC for a diagnostic and service estimate to verify everything. Didn't show any replacements and they actually said that considering it looks like its never been worked on it is in great shape.

One reference question though, what was the last series that would have had the vintage open numbers on the date wheel for the model? I see 92/93 and being an N serial production from 1991 I would expect to have them but do not

It appears to have a nice patina developing; I'd say that is likely due to appropriate age.

Here's mine FWIW.

Mine is E series and also has closed 6s and 9s.

Looks great! I also don't believe the bezel insert looks aftermarket but certainly would be very simple to find out. Take it to an AD and they should be able to pop it off for you simply and in a matter of minutes and you will know

1988/89. R serial is the latest I have seen.

No but RSC remarked they could use a cleaning. When I get it serviced eventually I'm going to decline all the cosmetic work

Actually I should say I was told no and that all was original, although they do look a bit whiter
