If I were to purchase a pre-owned rolex from the UK, does this change anything for resale here in the states?

lets worry about if it will make it thru customs first..Importing Rolex is a big "no no"

Don't do it. As stated above by Phil, customs may seize it as you are not allowed it import any Rolex into the USA.

yea Rolex does not allow anybody to import there watches into the United States.
