Thoughts on my First Rolex
Good morning all! Just purchased a Milgauss blue dial and would like to know what you may think regarding this watch. I love it but the lack of date function is somewhat bugging me.

Welcome and congratulation on your first rolex. The millgauss is always a hate or love it watch. If you love it then that what counts. The blue milgauss is a cool looking watch. It would be great if you would post some pics for us.

I have no opinion since I have yet to see one in the metal.

It was a toss up between the Milgauss with the green crystal and the Explorer 39mm. I ended up getting the Explorer because it was a tad bit more affordable for me at the time. Not having a date feature was one of the deciding factors for my first Rolex purchase and not having it doesn't bother me. I figured I wasn't going to wear it every day or put it on a winder, so the less I'd have to adjust for the correct date. I also assumed the service would be cheaper because of a less complicated movement.

Thank you guys! I will post some photos when I get to it in the evening.
On another note, would it be considered careless to go out and about, say on a public transport train in a large US city, with Rolex in tow? |

My daily was a 16600 and I found myself using the date quite often when signing contracts and other paperwork. I now have a 114060 on my wrist and was initially worried about the lack of date however I did not care for the thickness of the new SDc as is set quite high on my 6.5" wrist and do not like the cyclops so the 116610 was out of the question. A little over a week in and I have simply kept the date in the back of my mind and it hasn't posed an issue at all. Love the no date and do not have any second thoughts on my change after the first couple of days. Congrats and I hope you enjoy your great new piece.

Great ref., no date is ok. Get a date ref. another day.
