Is it possible to clean a vintage Rolex dial?

I just bought an 1803 and am considering. Buying another dial for it and came across one. The company that sells it doesn't say if it fits 1803. Maybe you guys can see if it will fit. The other question I have is if it is possible to clean the front of the dial to have it look "fresher"?

It can be done to an extent, with rodico, I would buy a perfect dial personally as there are many available for this model, the dial above won't fit.

Thanks! Greal link! I was also wondering if you know from where I can find used 1803 dials?

The dial looks like it has no dial feet. Can't really tell from the picture but it looks like they have been snipped off. So it won't fit any watch without glue... glue isn't a good route with watches.

That dial is damaged and no cleaning will fix it. There are a lot of 1803 dials out there, be patient & one will show up. WTB on this forum & you will find some. Ask for color you want. there are lots of champagne out there in NOS condition but most want black, blue, white, silver. PS dial shown fits 18038 imho. 1803 are pie pan. m

Seems to be a 18038 for me . . .

Make sure you buy a 1803 dial !

There's more fun in the search than the buy ;)

Good luck

Wrong dial for a 1803, a 1803 should have a pie pan dial with a broken edge.

I will say it's hard to clean a dial as is discolored, maybe if you get it for free as a project. I haven't pay a cent for it.

Might roll with the current Champagne dial a while and then put up a WTB thread here. It's probably the best way to get a decent dial.

In my opinion, and not being full savvy, this dial won't fit your Rolex day-date 1803, the dial for that model should be pie-pan style fitting movements 1555 or 1556. The one shown is for the quickset models 3155. I would suggest to investigate the dials and movements compatibility before buying.

U can find a competent jeweler to laser weld the feet, but since it's not the correct fit, I wouldn't bother. Be patient n u will find one but expect to pay more vs 18038 for a good condition one.

Day-date dials are easy enough to find ....

.... so I would reject that one

Day-date dials pop up on VRF occasionally. This one - see below - was for sale just a few days back at US $290.
May or may not be what you are after but the seller is a good fella.
If it grabs you, try Robby at ccrolex at hotmail dot com

There is an easy option too if ever a dial is missing its locating pins (feet) ...

Send a private message to greekbum here on TRF. He always seems to have some very nice dials for sale.

Agree, Nick had a few nos, & pie pan is for 1803. One above JP's post is for quick set. Plan on paying more for nice pie pan as less available imho than QS. M
