Icon20 5513 w/ a 1959 Serial Number?!?

Hello all,

I'm fairly new to Rolex Forums and this is my first post.

I own several watches; 4 are Rolexes. My first Rolex was a 5513 handed down to me from my dad. He acquired it in the 1970s as a pre-owned watch with no papers.

So I recently became curious about the year the watch was made. I removed the bracelet and am very confused about what I found. The case has 5513 stamped on it. HOWEVER, the serial number is 1,3xx,xxx.

Based on my research, 1,3xx,xxx serial #s are from 1959. The 5513 was not introduced until 1962!

So for the experts on this Forum, could this be? Am I missing something here?

Thanks in advance for any guidance,

CFR

The chart that you looked at (and there are multiple versions of that on the web) is wrong. The gentlemen above are correct.
This is one of the accurate charts:

I'm going to go with mid 60's around 65 -66, often seen with case backs in the III/65, IV/65, and 1/66 range.

You guys ROCK! I knew that I'd get the right help here.

Well, thanks again to all who helped out (and for an accurate serial #s chart) and I look forward to being more involved.
