1665 Red opinions welcome

Hello TRF

I have the opportunity to make a trade :
1675+1665+5513mkI = DRSD

What do you think of them ?

MK3 vs MK4. Both are nice examples and appear to have correct date wheels.

Case on the MK3 looks to be recently detailed and thinner vs the Mk4. I prefer the faded bezel on the MK4 as well as the patina, however many will argue the MK3 is more rare.

Personally I'd do MK4.

Waiting for Beaumont's opinion...

MKIV - it also looks like a superdome where the other one looks like service crystal. Small thing, but still. Those are nice watches you're giving up, though! :-(

The condition of the dial in these watches are critical. That being said the mk III has a chip in the 5 o'clock hash mark. The mk IV on the other hand appears to be a perfect dial. The tritium plots on the mk IV seem a bit odd in color, perhaps the lighting and crystal.

The condition of the case on the mk III appears to have had a recent detail; however, the crown guards appear like tiny points, contrast that with the more fat crown guards on the mk IV. In addition the mk III insert does nothing for the watch.

When I have found myself in the market for a DRSD a few times in the past, there were plenty examples of both mk III's and IV's available. At the time average examples of both were priced pretty much the same. It was the feeling back then and likely now that it is the top condition mk III's that will separate themselves in terms of price from the rest of the pack. Based on only one pic I am not convinced this mk III is one of them.

I would need to see more pics of the mk IV before I would consider a trade.

In today's market if you decide to step up for a DRSD, you need to make sure it is a great example. If it isn't, you may have a hard time selling it when the time comes.

both are rather pleasing but lume plots are starting to show age spots - not for me.

depending on the condition of your other goods i wouldn't trade for a DRSD, variety is the spice of life

One thing I thought I'd ad about trading: In most cases, trading will result in some significant loss in value.

If you are serious, maybe selling each piece individually would be better? The only exception would be if you found an amazing piece today and had to trade for fearing the 1665 red would be gone quickly.

Also, without knowing the conditions of each of the four, it's almost impossible to give an precise answer.

I don't have a 1675, but I have a nice 16750, a couple nice 1665 whites, and nice 5513 mk1. Would I trade those for a DRSD? Maybe. Depending on the watches selected, that number could approach $30,000. There are some DRSDs that I'd gladly 'trade' for $30, while there are others that I wouldn't touch for $20,000.
