Well Leo thanks for asking.....but had weeks stay in hospital from diverticulitis back in July.....not fun at all
Pain doc told me im losing to much muscle mass in legs ....especially right leg and have been going to P.T. 3 times a week now in hope to try and stop the progression. She told me the D.E.A. is getting so bad she may stop the clinic....which is not good news.
How are you doing these days?

Hi Greg, I'm sorry to hear of your developments and Yes, I know the DEA and FBI are coming down hard on every Pain Dr. and Clinic...as if they have nothing better to do like the DEA stopping shipments from coming in over our borders and Florida by boat and Submarine...and the FBI could use their time catching Bank Robbers and other criminals!!!

A good exercise for your legs is to get on a recumbent bicycle or even better Spin Cycles(either buy one or join a Health club)and spend time each day spinning. Start off easy like 15 minutes a day and then add ten to twenty percent every week. Get yourself up to 1-2 Hours every day or at least every other day. Remember tho, you do not want to push big gears but use the lower gears and SPIN!!!

I have not been doing well at all this year or since last Spring of 2013. My hands and wrists are swollen and painful all the time. And my ankles and feet swell up and hurt when we have Barometric Pressure changes. Then with the major storms moving thru I hurt in all my major joints. I'm back on 75mcg. Fentanyl Patches but they only help a little...and with Fall and Winter not far behind I will suffer tremendously. And this Winter is suppose to be worse than last Winter.....Yikes!!!

But I'm a survivor and will prevail.....
Take care.....Leo

Beautiful peice Wes. :-). Just lovely.

Thanks all for your well wishes. :-). Wes, I've been off work this whole time. The thumb injury was much more extensive than previous assessment indicated. While I think I should have had surgery 2 mths ago, I'm not on a position to make it happen. Even yesterday I was visibly upset & just felt deflated that after all this time, we continue to sit this out. I understand the docs concern about surgery & possible long term mobility issues with my thumb & that's the only thing keeping me grounded. I even said yesterday that I could better utilize the next 6 wks recovering from a repair knowing its repaired. Not that I'm going to sit around hoping it is. I liked the doc, he was a pleasant person & said he would rather try to mobilize my thumb & if not better in 6 weeks, would do surgery. I'm exhausted. I hate being inactive & in this predicament. Leo, you might be right about wearing the watch on my right wrist & hlosing off on any bling. ;-)

Greg, sorry to hear about your illness. :-(. Leo, you too. :-(.

*** Sorry for typos or run on sentences. I'm typing on my phone like a 1 finger. :-(

Thanks Judy. Lucky you/we have TRF to fill all our spare time. What would we do without it? (Probably get a lot more done)

Have you ever thought of moving to warmer climate? I would die living in the cold. It was to cold for me this past winter in Houston.....guess next stop will be Miami.

Wes, you are VERY right, we would get more done!

Well, to say i've a hell of a day would be an understatement. My mom was unable to walk, was unable to talk this am. In fact, she was quite lethargic, non communicative or was jerking her limbs both upper & lower. Very spasmodic. we thought her alzheimers had progressed 100 fold over night. only thing, she also had a fever. Since she was unable to move & her state of mind, which normally she is quite alert and she's talkative, I called 911. The guys were there within 5 min. That was fast! She was admitted to the hospital with severe pneumonia & is started on antibiotics. She's most likely there 4-6 days dpending on her mobility if improves or not. We'll take it one day at a time. Too many emotional happenings tp process this week. Im exhausted sitting at the hospital for 10 hrs. Will be a long day tomorrow, and exhausting cause she's on Respiratory isolation so we have to gown up, gloves and mask as well. Ugh!! TRF has enough posts to keep me occupied. :-P I'm too tired to drink tonight. Wow, thats a 1st for me! Having some Apple cider tea from Teavana. Very soothing. Have a good night all. :-)

Sorry to hear about your Mum, Judy. Just horrible seeing family suffer. My sister-in-law has been in hospital for 2 months now with a serious MS attack. Unable to do much for herself. Just hoping she can make a good recovery, is my age 37.

Thanks Wes. Your SIL is very young & poor woman, 2mths in hospital & away from her family, just devastating for everyone. :-( I hope she pulls through.

Yes, I know...but we are waiting until Pam retires in 7 or 8 years before we consider moving South. Also being born and raised in the Midwest I really like all the different seasons...especially Spring when the plants wake up from Dormancy and begin to grow and bloom. You do know that the "junk" tree called Silver Maple(it's the one with the mature Samaras in the late Spring which fall to the ground like "Whirligigs or Helicopters" do bloom in early Spring!!!

Judy, you do know the saying, "when it rains it pours." I'm sorry you have so much to deal with right now with your wrist and your Mom. Just think...eventually everything will get better and you will be able to look back at this point of time in your life as just major road bumps. Just think...instead of pulling your hair out or screaming you can just buy that watch you want or the diamond bracelet to reward yourself for surviving these "ordeals!!!"

LOL Leo, yep...

Just got home from another day at the hospital. My mom is doing really well. The antibiotics are kicking in & although she has some high, some normal temperatures, she's doing pretty well. Was talkative & alert today.
Will be another couple days before they discontinue Respiratory isolation. All in all, she is improving.

Judy, glad to hear your Mom is doing better and if she keeps up will be released soon...remember tho, your parent(s) maybe a pain in the butt right now especially as they get older. But the day will come when she will not be living on this earth and then you will miss her. My Mom died in 2007 and my Dad died in 1998 and a day does not go by where I wish they were still here!!!

Take care and trust your left hand/thumb will heal(with or without surgery).....Leo

Popping in to say hi to the Coffee shop gang. :-) I'm emotionally a bit exhausted with going to the hospital every day to hang out with my mom. She wasn't coming off her oxygen & so was sent for an X-ray. Showed she had fluid they needed to remove. After we got down to angio, an echo was done, & not enough fluid to extract. Opinion was a collapsed lung. Up we come, doc orders a cat scan to evaluate collapsed lung versus "a solid substance" i.e., mass. Test done, shows blood clots & now started on thinners. Physic is working with her to mobilize her & she's walking, just not as much as she has been. But improving. Looking at about another week before discharge as we have to get home care straightened out before she can leave. Also, she has to get a bit better with her walking too. So all in all, we're moving forward. :-)

Hope all is well with everyone. :-)

I've not been too well myself, spent most of Monday in bed, apart from when I had rush to the....you get the idea. Thought I had just run myself down as had 2 nights out in a row but turns out all the guys I was with Sat night were the same. So our favourite eatery up town is no longer our favourite.

Hi Wes, boy, you don't sound good. Make sure you drink your fluids! Its like you go through a mourning phase when you have that kind of reaction from a favourite place. It never quite feels the same.

My hand is in this f'ing cast for another month then we'll see when they remove it if the tear has healed or I need surgery.

My mother actually is doing better. Walked an entire round of the unit she's on so thats positive. The blood thinner is almost at therapeutic range but docs still want her in for another week. Gives us a bit of time to iron out home care too. :-)

I'm going to take my niece & nephew to dinner tomorrow night & I'm sure they will con me into going to Toys R Us. My nephew is crafty, if I say no to "the toy store", he follows up with "the book store" which also happens to sell toys. Looking forward to having some alone time with them. They'll cheer me up.

Hope your sister in law is also showing improvement.

Thanks Judy. Yep it's horrible when you are not well, I didn't know what was happening to me, thought I had Ebola.

I think she is showing some signs of improvement but is still in hospital for now, she does go home most saturdays for 1 night. Hopefully she'll be allowed home soon. Thanks for your concern.

Hiya guys & gals...

Well, my mom came home this morning. She's happy to be home but is pretty weepy & emtional. She's also noticeably more frail than before her admission. Her strength might improve a bit but I think she's deteriorated down another notch which she wont bounce back from. I'll have to keep a very close eye on her. One theory the docs have is that she got Aspiration Pneumonia. My father feeds her too much, too fast as he is quite impatient with her. He is ignorant, doesn't listen to me or my brother. He pushes us away. Very foolish man. My moms Alzheimers is more challenging than it should be because of him. ** BIG sigh ** Forms are being processed to start looking at nursing homes. We are closing that gap fairly quickly. So while my mother is napping, I'm heading out for a triple tall Americano. Hopefully that perks me up, I haven't been sleeping so well the last few days.

Wes..great that your SIL is coming home at least once a week. Soon enough I hope that escalates to twice etc.

Keep well all....

Happy Halloween guys! Enjoy it!

My friends and I are having a little party tomorrow. Going there as Jason (or rather a poor attempt at looking like him...I improvised a lot but at least I got the mask...), how original!

Have fun Carl. :-) I hit the Dollarama today to come up with some kind of costume for a party I'm going to tomorrow night. It's a bit lame but my creativity is a bit stifled with one arm. I found a black cape with a spider web pattern on it, a witches hat with a spider web on it, some stick on spiders, purple gloves, a spider hair clip & a few other things. I guess I'm going to be a spiderwoman. LMAO Or that I think I might look like that. I don't get into dressing up so much. But hey, I try. LOL

Have a great time at your party. :-)

Ladies, we have an updated pic of Carl. Now who wouldn't want him to come over for a cup of tea and meet your parents?
