Do you feel safe wearing your Rolex?
In every city anywhere in the world, it makes sense to be careful, better to be safe than sorry.

It totally depends on where you are located in the world, right!? And believe me, the world is big. In some countries or places is impossible to wear a rolex. They wouldn't cut off your arm though, yet ask you the watch gently pointing you a gun!!! :)

http://ktla.com/2014/11/06/woman-69-...-hancock-park/ QUOTE FROM KTLA: Woman, 69, Held Down and Robbed of Rolex and Jewelry in Hancock Park Police were searching Thursday for four men who jumped a 69-year-old woman and a stole her jewelry in a brazen afternoon attack in upscale Hancock Park. The attack occurred around 12:45 p.m. on Oct. 30 as the woman got out her car in an alley behind a series of shops on La Brea Avenue near 4th Street. As the woman began walking toward the stores, surveillance video showed a black four-door BMW pulling up behind her. Surveillance video showed a 69-year-old woman being held down by three men who steal her Rolex watch. (Credit: LAPD) Three men could be seen jumping out of the vehicle and surrounding the woman. Video showed two of the men holding her down, while the third cut the woman’s Rolex watch and a gold bracelet off her wrist. The woman was not seriously injured but did receive some cuts on her arm, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. The attacker’s car was described as a mid-2000s black BMW 740IL with paper plates and tinted windows. The men were described as white or Hispanic, standing about 6 feet tall and weighing about 220 pounds. It was not known if the woman was targeted or was a victim of opportunity. END QUOTE |

Depends on where I am....
I was once wearing my 166718 near California/Mexico border, riding public transportation, and I felt I should cover the watch up with the sleeve... |

It's not a worry in Singapore. But it might be in other parts of the world.

I don't worry much about this, but I worry less when in New York and San Francisco than I do in London or Paris.

Myself can never understand these types of threads why is it when some think when buying a Rolex automatically makes them a target. Now I wonder if the millions upon millions of other Rolex owners have the same feeling. I would doubt that because of there extremely high sales over the past 50 odd years .So high they ran out of number single letter number combinations hence the so called random are all these past buyers worried I would doubt if.If anyone is worried about wearing there Rolex anywhere why buy it in the first place or keep in its box locked in a safe.Myself have been wearing Rolex watches for well over 30 years, and wearing in cities places that some would call risky, yet never had a problem.Fact in all those years of wearing you could count on one hand the number of times I have been asked about any watch I was wearing. Now if you are one of these types who goes around with a sticker on his/her forehead saying look I am wearing a Rolex then perhaps you could have a problem.
And I will say this once and once only no gun talks on forum and member tomallen this is a warning you will not get another

I always feel safe wearing mine here. In addition to a super-low crime rate, pretty much everywhere I go there's always someone with a nicer watch than mine who looks much easier to rob in close proximity... making me a pretty improbable target.

This is my situation too. But I do not travel to places where it might be an issue.

Chaps
This sort of thread show that you are not keeping up with modern fashion. My 40mm Sub looks very small and dainty in 2014. In the year 2000 it looked big, but now a days, everyone is wearing big chunky watches. To be honest, my Sub looks rather effeminate in this day and age. If Rolex started banging out 45mm watches, you just may have something to worry about but a 40mm watch just doesn't catch the eye anymore. Regards Mick |

Ok poor taste in the comments here. And the rules need to be enforced. But really, the administration calls individual people out publically here? Decorum goes both ways. Yeah, I'm waiting now.

With both, good judgment is required. I would stake my Rolex on the fact that their is a much higher % of Rolex owners with good judgment than iPhone users with good judgment (iPhoning while driving iPhone Moms scare the hell out of me and present a lot more personal danger to you than wearing a Rolex ever will). |
