My First... not Rolex yet :P
Hi everyone,
I just received my first vintage watch, bought from eBay few days ago. It's not a Rolex yet, just a Tudor. I was wearing a Tissot PRS-100 before this and as a university student, I am not really financially ready for my first Rolex, so I bought this Tudor as a small motivation for myself, lol Anyway, the seller is a watch trader so he does not know when the watch was last sent to service. Unfortunately, I guess the watch isn't really keeping time because it appears to be -15 seconds in the past 7 hours. I'm just wondering, by any chance I can calibrate the time myself while waiting for another 2 or 3 months for my own "watch foundation" to keep enough money to send it to repair? :D Last but not least, I hope this is not a stupid question. Should the watch be sent to Tudor or Rolex service centre (yes I know Rolex owns Tudor) and how much would the repair normally cost? Cheers. ps: I've included a photo of my watch. Don't expect too much from the photo because I'm still learning about watches, and yes, I'm just a student |

Nice watch, unfortunately im not to great with the technical side of things, but if you take it to a local jeweller/watchmaker that you know to be good, im sure he could help. Also Im sure others on here can help you more to.
Anyway welcome to TRF, im quite new here too and the people here are extremely knowledgeable and helpful.

Welcome to TRF!
Great looking Tudor you have, congratulations! And about service, movements used in Tudor watches are always made by ETA,so almost every skilled watchmaker can service and repair them. Actually,it`s almost the same with Rolex,I know two top class watchmakers here in Belgrade who worked on Rolex watches for decades and,in many occasions, they did a better job than official service...

Nice watch. I'm wondering if these are COSC certified and if not maybe the amount of time it is losing is not too off from what would be expected?

"just a Tudor". You are not worthy. Oh, BTW, I see you are from Manchester. I was listening to Morrissey in the car (truck) all day. Sell your mother's jewlery and get it serviced.

Hi everyone,
Thanks for your replies! :) Yeah I kind of fell for it due to the simple design. I like something plain. I'll send it to a skilled watchmaker to inspect it soon :) Perdu: If I were to do that, I guess I wouldn't buy this Tudor. I would have enough cash to buy myself a Rolex, lol! Anyway, I like to depend on my own capability to spend my own money without relying on my parents ;) Cheers. |

Hi welcome to TRF, a Tudor is also in the family :P Think of it as a start :) My first started with a 16014 vintage, thinking of getting a Coke soon :)
