Sigh....

Sending the IWC and the LV-C off to their new homes today. Not going to miss the IWC. The LV.....??? That's another story.

I have worn a variant of the Sub for 11 years now... But, the AP completely stole me away from Rolex and the feel, craftsmanship of the Royal Oak makes it feel like more of a "rest of my life watch to me."

Because of the constant wear the RO gets from me, I have a hard time justifying relegating a watch as nice as the Sub to mere weekend and travel wear.... And if a watch is not getting worn it becomes a sheer waste of $$$.

The PAM 000 will now fill the casual-travel role, for now.... Unless I act on temptation and sell that as well and replace it with a Tudor Black Bay which is a watch that to me at least oozes Rolex build quality but has a lot of the old school properties Rolex used to be known for.

Still I'll miss you Sub.....

Thinking of consolidating...

I've found that 3-5 watches is about right for me...

There is definitely room in a collection for the AP and something else. I just can't seem to let myself wear the 15400 daily, so I end up only wearing it on occasional weekends, and the sub gets more wear during the week. Totally backward from yours. Haha.

Well I'm a little like you I have a Patek 5712, my favorite of my 3 pieces, but can't see myself without a sub, the Hulk also, for some activities, even if I prefer to wear my Patek, I always need a Rolex beater for swimming, motorcycle or sports, well any activity where my watch can get bumped, scratched or damaged, cheaper to service a Rolex than a Patek or an AP...

Didn't have this problem with my 15400. It got same amount of wrist time as my Rolex's.
I would have let go the PAM instead of LVc if I were you....

You'll end up getting the LVC back one way or another.
Enjoy the 15400! Great AP!

Rolex has not gotten any wrist time at all since I got the 15400 a month ago......Not one second. Not sure, as I have said in previous posts on another forum if it was worth having that kind of money tied up in a watch that would have been worn on weekends/travel/beach... Way too nice to be worn only 1/3 of the year....

May keep the PAM, may not. I know that I do not have the same sense of "guilt" not wearing the PAM on a regular basis like I had with not wearing the LV-C....

If you don't need the money at this time, it doesn't hurt to just keep it. The price will only go up if you decided you want it back after the honey moon period is over for the 15400. I think a month is way too soon to make the decision to let go your LVc.

If it was me, I would not make such a hasty and possibly costly decision after one month.
It is perfectly natural to want to wear your new 15400 every day now that you have it, but it has only been one month. The joy of having this amazing new piece is still fresh.
However, once the excitement wears off a little and you have had it for, say, 6 months, you may long to have the others back in your rotation.
I agree with consolidating if you find you're not wearing them after a longer length of time but I think the buzz of this new piece may be blinding right now.
Whenever I get a new watch I wear it a huge amount at the beginning to get a feel for it and bond with it, but after a few weeks, if it is a keeper, it slips very nicely into my often completely random rotation.

Tough call as I love my 15400 and it has been dominating wrist time lately. That said, My hulk is also a go to piece. I really want to eliminate all rolex due to the presence they have among non wis, but I likely never will because I love the designs so much. Classic, beautiful and well made. Hard to let go.

It's not a function of "needing the money." It's a value decision.

For me a Tudor BB, would serve the same purpose as the Sub without having less money tied up in the watch. Not ruling out something like a 39mm 114270 either if the price was right. I am also drawn to the new Omega Seamaster 300 and the 42mm Planet Ocean..... Two watches that seriously compete with the Submariner at less of a price point.

Thomas had a great point about the presence of Rolex among non WIS's and I am not sure if I want to wear something as flashy as the LV or even the PAM for that reason.

Point I was trying to make is that I am really trying to pare down the collection to two nice watches. Not ruling out another Rolex.. But I am also wanting to try something different on the wrist for now just to see what is out there.
