Interesting R-encounter this AM

I was checking out at a local chain retail establishment this morning, and noticed that the "clerk" was wearing a very nice timepiece. I discreetly identified it as a lady's DJ, with TT Jubilee bracelet, diamond dial, AND full diamond bezel; not exactly what one would expect to see on someone operating a cash register.

When I got to the front of the line, I politely said, "that is a very nice watch that you have there." She blushed a bit, and said thank you. As I handed her my cash, I let the 16613 serti slip from underneath the sleeve of my long sleeve sweatshirt, and I think that she felt a bit more at ease, particularly with my wedding band also clearly visible.

She said, "you know, I have been thinking about trading this in." When I inquired as to why, she said, "I am recently divorced, and have a rather large stone on my wedding ring that would make up the difference on a full gold watch."

My response was that the two tone would continue to look much better with her very fair complexion than YG.

It is a damn shame that someone would consider letting go of such nice pieces, undoubtably at a commercial loss, simply because of bad memories. But then again, I am not mid-50's nor divorced.

Reading between the lines, Freud would wonder is it the watch or the clerk that has TomSmith's attention ???

Perhaps he was looking for her ring lock system?

I was a little worried when you went on about letting your "Serti slip out".

I'd be asking for her telephone number. I've been married many years but you are living proof that; "Youth is wasted on the Young". This should have definitely turned in to a steamy romance post.

Everyone has the right to a good watch. I mean, yes, it is a bit about money - but it is also about values in life.

So the next thing I know she says with a wink, "hey, while you are here, would you mind helping me move a heavy box back in the store room?"

Ok, seriously now, there was and will never be any chapter two. After re-reading my post, it does indeed sound a bit novelistic though. Basically, I simply innocently flirted a bit with an elegant looking lady about 15+ years older than my happily married self. It made her smile.

Maybe she wants the all gold model so that she can have an all original watch with the diamond bezel. I think that would be worth it...

O.K. Tom:

I re-read your initial post and need to apologize. I did not realize you were married. I would never suggest for one to cheat on their spouse. I believe in fidelity and faithfulness. You have to become your own best friend and, in order to do that, you have to like who you see in the mirror. I have a motto of not liking guilt so I do my best to not do things that make me feel it. I was joking anyway but did not want any misunderstandings.

Peace.

:-) I was just wondering what kind of faces the customers behind the O.P. were pulling when this conversation was happening... since he mentioned that there was "a line".
