Avoid. Terrible pics, and the seller hasn't sold anything in over a year -- and he's never sold anything over $450!

I get sketched out when sellers make excuses like "unfortunately, my wife threw out the boxes and associated papers." Why not just say "no box or papers?" The watch in the pics could be real...but I can't say for sure with those awful pics.

Why would anyone buy a Rolex on EBay? Not the most trustworthy of sources...

Ebay isn't the source. The seller is the source. Ebay is just a place to list stuff. There are tons of trustworthy sellers and scammers alike who choose to list there.

I recently bought a Rolex listed on eBay by a local respected brick-and-mortar jeweler. But I wouldn't buy a watch from the seller of the watch in this thread. Buying the seller is more important than buying the website he posts on.

Excellent point. Any marketplace is only as good as its constituent merchants and buyers.

Although eBay has tightened the reins - it is the seller you must buy first

I'm pretty sure that anyone with a computer and printer can make one of these.

You have to pay money to get it, that's why. This is a reason that insurance companies only accept these from a few very specific sources(at least here in Sweden).
