Rolex mgt calibration
I have recently purchased a gmt 2.
Initialing it was gaining consistently around 5 seconds per day. I took it to a non Rolex watch maker and while he calibrated it as best he could he said that he could not adjust any more and so would need to be returned to Rolex. He stated that the best he could adjust it to was 4 secs. As he promised it is now running consistently 4 secs per day. I am curious what needs to be done to improve accuracy below 4 secs and what would it cost (non Rolex as they will insist in a service it does not need) Any advice would be welcome. |

4 seconds fast is right at COSC spec, and not bad.
My advice would be to wear it and enjoy it... ![]()

Most any GMT II is capable of better than 4 seconds and so I would recommend that you find a watchmaker more experienced with Rolex who will check it and adjust it over 3 or 4 days, but still, a couple of seconds either way is exceptional time-keeping. ![]()

If the watch is in new condition, it should be more accurate. The watch can be adjusted more that 4 seconds if everything else is up to snuff. The watchmaker may not have the skills or the tools to properly regulate the watch.
