Seconds hand set at 12 o'clock or sweep?
Breitling Chronograph owners....
I just recently purchased my first automatic chronograph, a Hamilton Khaki with a Valjoux 7753 movement. My question is this... For the longevity of the movement; should I (a) leave the second hand fixed at the 12 o'clock position or (b) set the second hand to sweep around. I know that with quartz movement chronographs, setting the second hand at 12 will prolong the battery. Thank you in advance for your insight!

For longevity of the movement I wouldn't have it running 24/7 thats for sure, unnecessary wear. But you do want to run it here and there to keep the lubricant even. What I usually do is if I'm in the office or around the house I don't have it going, but when I go out for dinner or on a date I have the chronograph keeping time.
Congratulations on the new piece! |

There are other threads on this and I think the consensus is to not run the chronograph constantly, as it is a drain on the power reserve. Most people just need to remember to use it every now and then.
