Pins

I posted a question in another post about changing out the pins. Nobody replied. My question was, how do you know if you need to replace the pins in your bracelet, other than the obvious? Just got me concerned about loosing my watch. Thanks in advance, Jake.

With normal wearing habits, you should not be concerned about the pins. They are very sturdy and well secured in the lugs. They will be exchanged by RSC during service ever 5th. year or so, and this should be sufficient. Just wear your Rolex and enjoy it!

Space- Dweller, I'm noticing a pattern here. You’re a gentleman, thanks again for your replies. I wear the watch 24/7, I'm a firefighter and it has been through some tough fires and also a lot of other punishing calls. Also, I have been a plumber for 23 years and it has been on my wrist for the last 4. It is just when I was reading that post I was talking about, it got me concerned that I might be risking loosing it, thanks again Space-Dweller, Jake.

Well, learning that you use your Rolex watch so actively, it might be wise to have the pins checked once a year or so just to be on the safe side. An AD watchmaker can inspect them for you.

I agree with Bo. On active individuals that wear their watches, at least once a year.

I was the one who started the other post. The reason I inquired was that I noticed a lot of play in the spring bars when I was changing the band (1991 GMT II); nothing I can quantify, they just didn't seem right. Anyway, can you really go wrong spending $10 to replace them?

Hi Jake,

Considering the "rough 'n' tumble" line of work you're in, I would get the watch checked out by an AD on a regular basis. It won't take him too long to merely take off the bracelet and check the pins.......and then replace them with genuine ones, if necessary.

Good luck - JJ

If you remove the pins from the watch then take the portion that extend in to the watch and gentle hold it in pliers if it's worn then you a lot of movement (pin end to body). Once you can compare to a new one you'll se the difference this is usually the problem with loose end pieces if you wear the watch a lot change them regularly.

What is best a custom Rolex or a Rolex that is stuck in custom?

Buy a professional camera and you´re a professional

If those are the pins, what do the last links of the bracelet look like? How long will they endure?

I've seen a lot of your pictures, and enjoy them!

Best,

A
