new Sea Dweller Lume question!

Pardon my ignorance,Is it me or is the Lume on my new SD (bought on saturday)pants!! my Citizen diver watch of 12 yrs has better lume! does it need a certain amount of exposure to build up or what? It may be a stupid question, but the difference is so marked.
Dont get me wrong, I love my watch.

IMO Seiko and Citizen have their own unique and better lume solutions than many swiss timepieces. Most Swiss companys including Rolex use super luminova, but imo is no-where near the level of brightness of a Seiko using their own version call Lumibrite
Regarding your SD, it will depend on how much the substance has been subjected to light and the intensity.

Not sure about the SD, but my new GMT IIc with maxi dial is very bright and seems to last all night, too.

To be honest, Rolex lume sucks!

Rolex could learn a lot from Omega in that respect.

Imho, the current Rolex maxi dial do glow MORE but not necessarily LONGER.

It will be interesting to see if the BLUE lume of the coming DSSD is really better and longer lasting.

It's been stated that blue lume is easier to catch for the eye in complete darkness, so maybe that's the secret behind it, but also it been stated in this article that colouring SuperLuminova would weaken its ability to glow.

Interesting, Bo, thanks.

I've not seen a blue lume, but I wonder why they glow for longer?

Certainly my GMT glows brighter and longer than my DJ, but the 'lumed' parts on the dial are far bigger. Maybe that's it . . . .

I have several Citizen's, and the lume on them is definately more apparent than that on my SD.

Good call, Harvey. You'll have to post some shots of it, too, if you can.

The lume on my SD is pretty poor, works good if in the sun light then right into the dark. But most of the time it is really weak at night.

It's true, Rolex luminosity stanks. Omega is indeed way better. But you still bought the Rolex anyway, so why should they improve it!

Rolex lume not good, I think Omega and even Seiko Black/Orange Monster have much better lume.

My Omega has a lot better lume than my GMT Rolex
Well, we all know this...
