Whats the differnce? Omega Speedmasters 105.003
Ok, I'm new to this an contemplating making the jump into the speedmaster world. I cant, for the life of me, tell the difference in big value between these two watches.
Can anyone add some thoughts? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Omeg...item5d53e033c9 vs. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1965-OMEGA-S...item234a6358cc |

The first one has a painted Omega logo, the second one has the applied type.
The second one has had the hour/minute hands relumed...not done well... The patina on the first one looks more uniform but the bezel insert is pretty rough... Should be priced about the same IMHO....

The issue with the first watch is that it has an incorrect dial. The dial is not only wrong but also a later model service dial replacement. The Omega 105.003 is a pre professional watch, ie it's dial should not have the word professional in it. The 105.003 is the last pre professional. Since it has a later dial, probably from a 105.012 or 145.012 ( which were the first 2 professional references), it's value is diminished.
The second watch is more correct in parts, the chrono hand is wrong, but it's dial and hands have degraded. You should go to speedmaster101.com and read up on the different Moonwatches. |
