My Rolex is 20 seconds slow per day.

I just inherited a 1991 Ladies Rolex. I seems to run 20 seconds slow per day while on the watch winder. My wife doesn't wear it much so most of the time it's on the winder. From prior posts I see that 20 seconds per day seems excessive. Will a Rolex service bring it back to acceptable standards.
Any other suggestions welcomed.

Welcome to TRF!

20 secs. are definately beyond chronometer specs (minus 4 to plus 6 secs. a day).

If the watch has not been serviced since 1991, that is probably the reason. It is advisable to have it serviced every 5th. year or so. Getting it serviced would indeed help. The movement will be cleaned from old oils, re-oiled and adjusted to run with chronometer specs. Also, the case and bracelet will be polished / restored to look like new again. Cost is typically around 500 US $.

Hi wellcome to TRF!
Your watch really needs a full service. No home tricks for 20 secs a day

Thanks.......I thought servicing would do the trick. I don't know when the last service was, but for $500 it worth doing again anyways.
