Twisted Dial

Hello all!

I'm new here and have a question concerning the dial on my datejust. Within the past couple of months I've noticed the dial is twisted off center by about 1 minute dash. This throws off the ability to clearly see the date and is just annoying in general, not to mention it scares the crap out of me since I value this watch greatly. Have a look:



The weird thing is, once in a great while the dial will be right on the money, as if it corrected itself. I don't know if this is caused when it self-winds or when I change the time (as there are times I don't wear it for a few days and it stops).

Some background - This watch was given to me by my father when he died several years ago. I hadn't worn it for many years in fear of losing it or scratching it, then I decided there was no point to having it if I couldn't enjoy it as he intended. So I've been wearing it almost daily for the past year. This problem only began somewhat recently. Any help with this is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Man you have serious issues with your watch. Your watch definitely needs to be serviced. This is shown not only by the dial being off centre, but the date feature is not functioning.
It is possible that the locating pins on the dial have been displaced, and the dial has rotated.
In any event this is a very unusual problem and one that needs expert attention.
Once it is serviced it will be as good as new

Thanks for the welcomes and advice! Where I live there are no certified Rolex service centers. I'm not sure I would trust just any watch repair place to service it. Does anyone have any advice as to the best way to go about getting it serviced? Also, do they give it a full overhaul and make it look brand new in general? Can anyone tell me how much this will run price-wise?

Bring it to an authorized Rolex dealer (AD) and they will ship it off for you. There are ones in NYC, Chicago, LA, SF and I think Dallas (look on the Rolex website).

I can only imagine it will get worse if you don't get it serviced. Get it serviced and then post your after photos so we all can see.

IF I am not mistaken, the dial has what car called,"dial feet" that orientate the dial in the proper location. This is why the date is off too. It's usually is a shock of some kind that can dislodge the feet or even snap them off. I had it happen to a Tag SEL recently. I agree with the rest, you need to ship it off for a full service. Rolex's RSC will recondition the watch to like new condition and you can enjoy 5 or 7 more years of worry free wear. Depending on what is broken, it will probaly set you back $500 ro $700. Look at it as $100 a year for no worries. Good Luck

You can send it directly to Rolex (NYC, Dallas, Beverly Hills), they will give you a quote of everything the watch needs to be 100% and you can decide what to fix and what to wait on, but for sure a movement cleaning and gen service, as others have said about $500, takes 3-4 weeks.
