Guidance needed on choosing a Rolex

As others have said...get the watch you love. Either one will work with anything. What's more important is that when you look down at your wrist, you're happy.

In major cities I travel to Subs and GMT's are very common and totally appropriate for formal business suit attire- I even see Deepseas with suits and they look great

1. Get what you like.

2. You can wear any Rolex with a suit.

3. If you really are on the fence, the Datejust II is more than you will ever need.

I wore my SS GMT II and SS sub everyday of work with my suit and tie. They are perfect for any occasion for me.

As has been said already, easier to dress up a Sub than to dress down a DJ. I wear my Sub or BLNR with suits, shorts and jeans, just not all at the same time.

I wear a suit every day, too. I wear a TT DJ every day that I wear a suit and a 79090 on the weekends. I've worn the Tudor Sub a few times with a suit and it just doesn't feel right. It feels to utilitarian. The DJ fits beneath the cuff and provides just a bit of flash. That said, today was supposed to be a casual Friday due to the holiday so I wore the Sub, but a crisis has come up and now I'll probably have to go to court. No one will likely notice or care, but it still just doesn't feel as comfortable as the DJ.
I do agree with the poster about the TT Sub. I know a few attorneys who wear those to court and they always look appropriate.

Sub goes best with a suit if you keep the the sub in one of the pants pockets. Same advice for any of the tool watches.

I suit up 5 days a week and do both. Dress up my dssd and dress down my DJ. I think that as long as it fits under the cuff of your shirt either is fine.

Of those two I would probably go with a DJ2 blue stick, smooth bezel and obviously on an oyster. I think that watch will be plenty large enough and sporty to kick around in shorts and a t shirt but will rock a suit as well.

Others are right try them on at an AD with a suit. And while you're there strap on an Explorer, the best for casual AND dress, IMO. Either way there's no point in trying to sway your opinions on whether a Sub is appropriate in a suit. It's all personal preference and you shouldn't have to change yours for a watch. Between your two choices DJ2.

I think the literal translation is 'bleu/noir' (blue/black) and it refers to the ceramic bezel on the recent GMT Master II. The GMT watch has a separate 24-hour hand for tracking time in another time zone.
