Quick release strap bar?

Whats the deal with the quick release strap change system?

I notice its on some models and not others, some older & some newer, it seems random?
I was under the impression it was being phased in as the new normal, but noticed it was absent on some new models while still being used on others
Ie 389 vs 372

Anyone know more?

I have it on my Pam 104 and it is amazingly simple. I sometimes change straps 2 times a day. Its a good system and eliminates the possibility of scratches during the strap change.

I'll take a stab at it...all of the contemporary models have the quick release system while the historic models have screws. Although I hear that the new 1940 models are push pins and not screws. I would categorize the 1940s as historic but it may have to do with the casing.

And pam 390 too, because they trying to make those models like Vintage models, afaik!

And yes the new Rad 1940 case using the push pins, not quick changing strap system or screws either.

More or less that's right, but there are exceptions. For example, the 233 is a historic but it has the quick strap change lugs.

If it goes wrong, you're in for a new case.

That being said, my 164 has it and I LOVE it.

The quick strap is just great, have it on my 233 and changing straps is so easy, while on my 2 others it's the old system, much more of a headache to change, so For me the quick change is a winner

Personally I don't really see how it could go wrong, it is quite simple and basic mechanism, but of course everything is possible, especially after 10-15 years if you've been changing straps 10 times a day

date vs no date

Trying to look for the pattern and it appears to me that for luminors, quick strap change only appear for luminors with date function. The one without date function seems to use screws. Did I miss something?
