I now feel like a pauper having got a 16610LV as my first Rolex! However....your journey may be cheaper than mine...the golden smurf is one I will get eventually...but I wonder where you go from a smurf...not far as it's right up there! So I think I will have an expensive journey ahead of me!

You started at the top. I agree, in the long run, you will have spent less money than those of us that bought low then keep flipping and upgrading to our "Grail". I think that is smart. There are more expensive Rolex out there, but none are better than yours - just a matter of taste and budget. I am, as an owner of at least one exceptional timepiece, going to suggest what I am now thinking: See what the "lesser" watches have to offer. Baseline Rolex, Tudor, Small Guy brands (RGM, Habling2, Nomos, etc.) Fun, maybe?
