European availability for Daytona ss

Hi guys,

Came across this forum and thought someone here can help.

I am from scotland and the Daytona ss is like gold dust all around the UK, most AD telling me that between 1 and 2 years waiting list.

I am traveling to Paris in June and was wondering if anyone knew what availability was like across other parts of Europe especially Paris.

Thanks

Afy

Watch Club in London get them in all the time, some BNIB some pre owned and Watchfinder have loads of pre owned on their website, if it's any help.

i had my name down for one from a Rolex AD waited about 6 months for the first one and 15 for the second. AD is in the uk, but rolex have now parted company with them.
I need to find a new AD that will happily add my name to the list - so back to this forum to have a read up

There were 2 at Zurich airport on Friday. Give them a call to see if they are still available and get a same day return flight. You will save 8% on tax which will pay for your flight.

Daytona UK Availability

It's a good question

I recently visited Florida and Caribbean, Interestingly every AD we called at had both Black & White dialled SS versions available, although they were not shown in the display (you had to ask), and in fairness to one AD in Florida the story was we have both on reserve although they were happy to show me both, but I couldn't help thinking I could have bought either on the day (apparently this is a common story), one dealer did admit they were not allowed to show them in the display

I recently ask Goldsmiths in Middlesborough what their lead time was and they said 4 years, having read about Daytona,s being seen in some airport displays in Europe, Goldsmiths made me think are we still on a limited supply in UK , or are they bluffing which if so is a serious risk of driving the customer to go to a different watch or another brand or indeed buy abroad which cannot be good, If its true I am please I bought at the time which gives the additional comfort of residual values staying high here in the UK.

This makes me ask what experiences/lead times have members come across in the UK?

I think the problem with Goldsmiths is that you can put your name on the list with no obligation.People put their name on several lists in the hope of getting one and this bumps the number of names up.They could have 20 names down but only two may be in a position to purchase,so in effect the wait isn't actually that long.
Tried a D blue on a few months ago at Goldsmiths in Leeds,it had made it into the window as they had phoned everyone on the list and none were in a position to purchase.Similar thing with my BLNR,spotted it in the ADs window, fell in love, deal done.Very much, right time, right place etc.
One AD I use,say they will get whatever you want within 3 months provided you put £1000 deposit down. This eradicates the dreamers that put their names down on no obligation lists.Got to actually have a good look at a white Daytona they had in for another client whilst I was there. Not for me,far too thin and dresslike plus I find the dial not that legible.
Sorry,I will not name the AD as I have a good relationship with them and they frown upon people coming from all over the UK to buy a watch. All I will say,is you will have more luck at smaller independant AD,s than the chains

nmbPlease explain this from your post above, quote"they frown upon people coming from all over the UK to buy a watch"
Why would they? A sale is a sale isn't it? Or do you mean they get bored of people trying on watches and not buying?

Try Cairncross in Perth. That's where I picked mine up from last November.

Good luck.

Fly to the U.S. where they are plentiful. As a bonus, our Daytonas don't have a magnification problem either.

They simply told me they did not want people travelling up from London to buy a piece,I suspect this is to deter preowned dealers from buyer one at list and selling on at a margin. The preowned, unworn margin on Daytonas is still quite large in the UK.
