Mostly a lurker but felt obliged to chime in... The fact is, it is your responsibility to check the watch before you leave the store... I am not inferring that you are a dishonest person but you could have very easily scratched the watch and the AD is in no way required to replace it... As some have stated, it would have been acceptable for him to polish... Shit happens and I would be very comfortable going back to that AD based on the fact that they didn't hesitate to offer a replacement... Great customer service in my opinion!!!
If you purchased a new car, would you not do an inspection before you signed all of the paperwork and drove off the lot? I'll bet if you came back and complained about a scratch 30 minutes after you drove off the lot they wouldn't offer to replace ;) |

The first scratch is always the worst. I really dont see a real issue here, nor would I qualify it as an unpleasant visit.
My 2 cents - keep the watch...Let them make it up to you on another purchase. PCLs are going to patina overtime anyway - and the clasp is going to be the first thing to scratch. If it were me (which I know is easy to say) -- I wouldnt bother with a new one. Now if it were on the bezel or crystal...may be different. |

To over scrutinise the replacement would be very tempting, when in the cold light of day, 5mins of AD polishing would have the thing back to 100%. Cheers on the ink |

How about look at it this way...the first blemish is out of the way!!!! Wear it - and don't worry!!!
I KNOW scratches hurt - believe me - but they're gonna happen either way. We ALL - well most of us love to baby our watches ...but deep down in order to TRULY enjoy them - they MUST be worn...and with wear comes scratches and dings and so on. It's inevitable. We're all gonna scratch them, knock them on something etc. Those things aren't gonna "hurt" a Rolex!!! |

Get used to scratches ASAP or you'll be buying new Rolex every day.

That's again a bit confusing. You question if you might not have noticed it, what you fate would have been. But you blame the AD for missing it. Or, you are implying that he saw it and then tried to trick you into keeping up. But when you called he validated all of your concerns and agreed with your perspective. And he readily agreed to swap it out for you. Yet, you feel something is wrong? Confused. I think you should give this guy a bit of slack. People miss things. Sometimes they have a lot in their mind. Sometimes they are busy. Sometimes people make mistakes. It's not a lack of mistakes that makes a successful person, it's how they handle their mistakes. Appears he is handling them like a champ.

and people wonder wonder why rolex owners get a bad name 8^)....there's a scratch on his watch, his ad offers to replace it and then he goes on a public forum and bashes them??!!
lofl, how rich of a story is that. sorry dude, stop acting like an @$$ and take the watch back to the ad and get a new one or deal with the scratch. scratches happen all the time to everyone....if you don't want any scratches don't wear the watch....lol, these posts continue to crack me up. hagd

Guys, I really have no issue to have scratches during use and wearing it.
But I also didn't expect such a blemish with my new watch when AD handed it over to me. I simply can't understand how come they could overlook it, provided that it is not small or negligible. Yes I'm posting on a public forum but I didn't disclose which AD it is. Some one PMed me and asked me which AD it is but I didn't say. I don't want to judge an AD for just my personal experience. However When I recalled the purchasing process, I just feel a little shady. Yes, that's how I feel now. No one introduced how to operate this watch; no one offered to examine or check this watch. I walked in, asked for a GMT 2 two tones. Settled the price, then they took the watch to the room at back, packed everything. Didn't even remind me to check it. If I didn't notice the blemish until tomorrow, I don't know whether they would just refuse taking it back. I have my own business. I have been seeing picky customers from time to time so when I'm shopping, I try to be considerate and polite. But if someone wants to trick me or take advantage of me, I won't let it go easily. |

No I'm not looking for a refund. I want a brand new watch asap. That's it.
I just don't get it why they could 'overlook' that blemish and why they tried me in that way. Just because I am new to this town? Just because I am an immigrant to Canada, not local? I didn't want to bring it up, but here you go: I do feel hate and discrimination everywhere in Canada. Thank you. |

be happy they didn't tell you to go pound sand, which they would have been 100% correct in doing, i'm sure you would have come here and bashed them here as well. sh!t happens all the time, they made you a reasonable offer take them up on it and move on. lol
