Air King 5504 / 5500 dial question
Does a 5500 dial fit in a 5504? I know that 5504 is bigger (36mm) than 5500 (34mm), but I am a bit confused as I heard different opinions about it.
Many thanks in advance for your help Kind regards |

Not a happy marriage ...
The 5500 has a 34mm case and either a 1520 movement (Precision) or a 1530 movement (Super Precision).
The 5504 has a 36mm case and a 1530 movement. With each watch having a 15xx movement, dials will swap over ok. But a 5500 dial is too small for a 5504 case and vice-versa. It may be obscured by the curved edge of the crystal but worst case scenario you could see a gap if a 5500 dial was fitted to a 5504 case. |

Thank you so much for you help, Paul.
The thing is that I have a 5500 with a nice super precision dial, and I was offered a 5504 with a refinished one. Then I thought that I could swap it, but you are right about the gap if fitted to the 5504. My confussion was based on the diameter of the dial and thought they were the same, although 5504 case is bigger. Thank you again Kind regards |
