Saw this yesterday. Seemed like a great idea. Combine one of my favorite grapes with my favorite whisk(e)y!
It was OK!

Anybody into Muscats?
I have been a huge fan of the Fortifieds all my life.
This is just one of the great Australian Fortifieds that I have had recently.

It's one of our favorites - decided to pull a bottle out of the cellar this weekend. Had VERY little sediment - as I expected some with an 04 - but it was delicious - had it paired with some awesome cheeses and a 30 day aged KC strip.

We were in Napa back in Dec - and stopped by FF -- did you pick up any of the reserve Pinot? They were 100% out when we were there!

Unfortunatelly we did not, but we were fortunate to have a private tasting at Anomaly Vineyards. Next time you are in Napa I recommend you call ahead and schedule a tasting with the owner Steve! FANTASTIC Wines. http://www.anomalyvineyards.com/#story

We are waiting for our bottles of Designation Red Wine to arrive this Fall.

I most definitely will! I have heard of them - but have never tried the wines.

Always nice to add one to the 'to do' list for the next trip!!!

Cheers!

I've never had it but would expect it to be pretty good. Costco's wine buyer went from having hardly any experience in wine to becoming one of the most influential and powerful people in the business.

South African Chenin Blanc the other night

Probably the oakiest wine I have ever sampled, the oaken mellowed out after about 30 mins of decanting but my girlfriend who is more of a fan of your generic fruity whites still wasn't a fan and much preferred a chenin blanc we had a few nights previous from Quail's Gate in Canada. I wasn't crazy about either but did find the DeMorgenzon to have a very interesting flavour profile that set it apart from other whites I have tried of any varietal. Along with the oakiness I picked up on apple and vanilla, my girlfriend who has a different palate and preferences than I do, so can often pick up slightly different things in the nose or taste, picked up lemon.

Still on the hunt for a white I like as much or is even in the same league as the buttery Wente Riva Ranch Chardonnay.

Drank some of the Blind Watchmaker red blend last night from Denver's Infinite Monkey Theorem Winery.

It's a $25 blend they make. The 100th Monkey is their best blend and is $55/btl.

Paired with home made pasta on tomato-based sauce (garlic, onion, basil, parmesan). It is a nice, crisp white with melon notes, even though label points at mango, I could not find it. Creamy without being overwhelming. My 2 cents: a beautiful summer wine. Not for heavy dishes, more for light cheese, simple seafood or summer-y pasta

Also in TX and NM. Per winemaker's suggestion (from Baja, Mexico), I bought two bottles that will sit for some time...

There's a bunch here but the price has shot up. The only reason I'd buy it would be if I saw the special litre bottle at a great price. I should've done that on the release date. It's good wine but not extrodinary like the rating guru's are saying.

I think in time it will improve. A lot. Like most of the 2012 vintage. I'll post my summer wines here in a few days that I bought prior to the heat wave that's going to be here for 4 months.

I'm a big fan of aged Rieslings.
Here is a beauty from the Watervale district of South Australia.
Could have gone much longer - maybe a couple of years.
Full of citrus notes and very clean on the palate.
