CHF8500 is full retail. When I got mine from them in November that was the price and no discount except for the tax. It came out to around CHF7800 once they subtracted the tax.

Remember to declare it on the way back to the UK - Swiss authorities automatically forward VAT reclaim forms to EU authorities. There was a highly public case of this a few years ago in Finland, guy got done pretty badly for tax fraud.

I'm not quite following this. Yes, it's VAT free if you're taking it out of the EU, but not if you're bringing it back to the UK. You will need to declare it at Customs and at that point you will have to pay the tax.
