Incoming 1978 sub!
I decided to go pure Rolex and trade in my 1968 Tudor 7016 towards a 1978 1680.
Krlyuzh gave me a good deal toward the top hat titan, I'm a patina whore so this one really appealed to me... ImageUploadedByTapatalk1430869557.178490.jpg And this is what I sent off... ImageUploadedByTapatalk1430869677.371032.jpg I'll take some pics tomorrow night or Thurs. what do you guys think? Good move? |

The 1680 is nice, but that Tudor was stunning... But if your happy that is all that matters.

Incoming 1978 sub!
I had a good year with the Tudor, and I was happy with it for the most part. The patina was fantastic, but I found myself really wanting the correct fat font/long 5 bezel and that would not have been a good value proposition for me.
In the end the vintage piece I'm really angling towards is a Red 1680, but one with nice creamed coffee patina like the example above. This is a good step in that direction and should keep my demons quiet until I find the right red sub and have the funds available for the jump. |

So my patina is white, is that because it spent it's whole life outdoors staring at the sun?

Congrats! You're one step closer to your goal. Good thing you did not see the 71 Red that Jacek recently had up as it would have thrown your plan out the window.

Sad you had to let the Tudor go... was a stunner.
Good luck on the upward climb to the Red.

Great 1680 but a tudor that age and condition is far more rare... I would have held the Tudor and saved longer for the 1680. Actually, I recently bought a Tudor and am continuing to save for a 1680...
Both excellent pieces and if you can have only one, that may be the right decision for you. Enjoy! |
