Question for the pro's
I know in the pam world more than others the complete set is very important , but would having a movement service receipt or a letter from a well known dealer be adequate .

adequate for what?
trying to recoup your cost when you want to sell? what model you looking at? even a 127 Fiddy with no box with service papers will take a huge hit compared to complete set

Yup. What Phil said. Unlike PP or Rolex, provenance and full documentation seem important to Panerai values (unless you're talking vintage).

There is a Pam 10 on Paneristi for a decent price with box but nothing else for roughly $4000 .

Just echoing prior sentiments here- have learned my lesson and found that lacking inner box and papers, or the proper limited 'special edition' box can dramatically hurt values..but Pre-V stuff, you can get away without the package and not suffer too badly on the marlet
