Probably more to do with the reptile aliens and their luciferian allies from the Orb Nebula.

The gigantic bezel and lugs look turns a lot of people off from Rolex. Taking a step away from that to a better proportioned look and introducing a wealth of new dials with modern, yet classic looks, plus a next-generation calibre is a step in the right direction.

Plus, we'll see the older dials be re-introduced when the old stock of dd2's are sold.
