Icon1 Suggestion for Classifieds Section

if this has been discussed already, apologies in advance for raising it again...

today, sharp eyed members found more forum images being used for potentially fraudulent activities on offsite listings and auction sites. they are being used without the permission from the TS or current owners.

as a result, and in the interest of buyers and sellers, does anyone else think it may be worth looking at deleting all for sale listings after they've been up for say, 90 - 120 days?

please share any ideas.

Watermarked images would go a long way to stopping this.

Who is going to do this and how much pay involved?

If buyers were smart did their homework and dealt with well known reputable sellers they wouldn't get burned. I can tell you monitoring the forum takes a lot of time and it is enough to delete improper bumps and ads because sellers don't read the rules first. Your suggestion while admirable is unrealistic as we aren't going to spend hours doing cleaning up sales forum. The sales forum is an accomadion here not a necessity. Again who do you propose spend hours upon hours of time cleaning it up?

I'm no IT expert, but wouldn't this also save a lot of bandwidth? There must be hundreds of thousands of old sale pics that will never be looked at again. (Not to mention all the WRUW pics).

Have to agree we have enough to do now with the ever increasing daily spam, and in many ways the for sale forum can be more trouble to the mods and admin, than the reading checking the thousands of posts on forum. And we mods and admin have a life outside TRF but we do our best to keep forum safe for the members IMHO thats far more important..

Not possible to have posts expire automatically? I would never try to delete them manually. I wonder if the software can do it?

The pics are all hosted (except for a few that people upload directly), so I don't think that there would be much bandwidth savings.

I for one appreciate that I can follow the value of a watch though the years- though it hurts to see all of the 15300s I didn't buy for $7200ish!
