Don't fret - it's not as though the watch would be highly valued - a stainless date would rarely fetch more than $2500, usually closer to $2K

as much as I think it looks corny as hell the actual painting of the tiger is done very well all things considered...but not a snow balls chance in hell i'd buy it

Wow - that is actually a good thing. And it can do wonders for second hand prices - just look at Bamford Watch Department watches. Uh. Wait a minute.

Never mind.

It would have to be the Pope or Björn Borg to get me to pay extra for this piece, a tiger is just too mainstream...

A 6694 is closer to $1,500 actually, although the Tiffany one I saw recently was going for about $3,600.

I think the argument that original paint on an original dial is ALWAYS better is a flawed generalization. If you have a dial that is so bad as to be unwearable/unreadable/UNSELLABLE and you are having it repainted anyway, why not have some fun and put on a nekkid woman, or a tiger, or some secret arcane symbol? I think it's a blessing to collectors because it keeps you from having to ask "Is the dial original?"
