And if I want it serviced under warranty I would then have to send it for repair to Rolex Europe who can't send it back to me because of the import limitations on Rolex

So confusing
Of course they will (and have to) work on it.

Probably best to forget that this nonsensical thread exists. RUSA will be following the same warranty procedures as all affiliates worldwide. Just their admin staff clearly don't know it yet.

In other news, it's been reported as confirmed by Canadian ADs by some users over at CANWATCHCO. At this point, RUSA is most likely just holding off on the announcement not to canibalize June sales.

Not much I agree, but it's like anything else, you want the latest and greatest and if you are paying the same amount of money as the next guy but he gets a 3 year warranty and you get a 5 year, who got the better deal? 49 times out of 50 the answer is both of you because neither one of you is going to need service in the first 5 years. But that 50th time...

Well 49 times out of 50 it won't matter, see above

Whats funny is both AD's in my town offer double warranty's anyway (4 years). I had one of the sales guys tell me that when they do fail, it is usually in the beginning. He honestly couldn't think of one where they had to pay for the warranty (between 3-4 years).

I'm failing to understand the confusion here...?

The (what appears to be credible) news is that Rolex is extending it's INTERNATIONAL WARRANTY to 5 years.
An INTERNATIONAL warranty that would NOT apply in the United States of America would be well.....silly.

Don't we all know from either personal experience or from secondhand word of others that people who work in ADs and service centers know less about Rolex than the average TRF member and if they happen to actually know something, when asked, they evidently don't talk?

I don't know how credible this source is, but here's another one.

I would also bet that RUSA would only officially announce updated warranty terms on the day they are implemented. If they announced it in advance nobody knowing about the upcoming change would buy a watch until July 1st, understandably so.
My thoughts exactly! Rolex is a profitable business and I can't imagine a smart marketing move would be to admit or announce such a change in advance. It would certainly cause delay for purchases, myself included. IM reminded of asking Apple what the launch date is for the next iPhone, always the same response, "we don't know", or "I'm not aware of such a date", lol. I have a Breitling in house movement on my wrist and I do feel better knowing it has a 5 year warranty instead of a 2 or 3 year so I hope this is true for Rolex.

Sitting at Rolex Dallas Service Center today and according to Karen (RUSA customer service rep) the 5 year Warranty is NOT TRUE. She stated that they were aware that it was floating around the Internet.

She further stated that it was the topic of a staff meeting on 6/22.

I showed her the picture posted by "kepr" at the top of the thread and she reiterated that again no 5 yr warranty.

Karen further asked for a copy of the picture emailed to her.

My money says Karen is not well informed. Rolex keeps their people in the dark and many simply don't care enough to dig into it the way WIS do.

It's still possible that RUSA as an independant company will delay the application of the new 5y warranty. They may have to get the authorization from the local board or something like that.

In the meantime RSC in the US will probably have to accept this 5y period for a watch sold elsewhere in the world and coming to them.

If this "delay" is less than 2 years, that won't make a difference anyway.

Omega is extending their warranty to 7 years and it will be revealed by 007 in the next Bond movie, wherein a beautiful but deadly female operative asks Bond, "just how long is your......warrenty?"

Sounds like Karen is uninformed. The rank and file employees are probably kept in the dark so they have plausible deniability. I'd be a little steamed if I bought a new Rolex today instead of waiting until July 1st. If the salespeople aren't told anything in advance, they can't get blamed for lying about it.

I'm sure there are some salespeople who would BS customers to not risk closing a sale. If they know what's coming and are completely upfront and tell the customer to come back next week to buy and get a better warranty, some customers might not come back, or they go elsewhere.
