19028 fair price?I know "what it's worth threads" are not allowed but...
I know "what it's worth threads" are not allowed but in the sticky
it does say "Moderators will make the final decision if the Thread has merit" And since this is about a pretty rare piece/config I hope this thread has merit and can stay because I could use your input on this one A friend of mine is considering buying this 19028 (yes he likes diamonds) the diamonds on dial and bezel are factory original. the watch is from 1985. What would be a fair price, asking price now is 16000 USD i believe. And to me the bracelet looks overpolished (center pyramid links) what do you think? |

I'd hop on Chrono24 and do a little digging.

Interesting piece but I think your right, The bracelet and the bezel look a bit over polished or worn away as the pyramids on both no longer look sharp and pointed and the bracelet links look somewhat lose as well.........

price would be dictated by rarity and desirability. Or rather supply and demand.
The watch is rare, not many will dispute that, but is it in high demand? Looks pretty cool, but I would not buy it. Not sure what comparable example will pull but would think your friend would be in the minority of buyers |

Just noticed that these are OQ. I've owned 2 OQ DJ before.
Being OQ makes it even more rare! |

A rare watch IMO and a nice model to own but has been spoiled by polishing over the years.
The buyer just needs to decide on a price point that they are happy with considering the condition.

The comment about the pyramids looking like "Chocolate Bars" is so accurate. I can't stop thinking of it when I look at the watch now.

Comparing it to the few other prices I could find I think 16000 is to0 much.
I saw one offered for 12000 with bracelet in better condition. without diamonds. But does the original diamond bezel and dial justify a higher price. Me personally would prefer the version without diamonds. My friend however is pretty much in love with this particular one. I guess with it being so hard to move it ultimateley comes down to how much he really wants it and what owning a piece he likes so much would be worth to him. I will point out the overpolished/worn down bracelet |
