Several longtime watchmakers have told be there is no reason to have a Rolex serviced unless it stops working or you just feel like it. I can totally see why someone would want to send it in after 5-7 years of daily wear to have it coming back looking like new.

It is just personal preference really.

You kind of feel "cheated" How so ?

You can still service at 5 years if you are the preventive maintenance sort of person, it can't do any harm. Some others have always just waited for something to go wrong before servicing - Personally, I've always been in the ~10 year camp.

Well my wife's Datejust should be about ready for a service then, bought in 1988 and worn daily ever since.
