Long time owner, first time writer
Hi,
I own a GMT Master II bought new in 1986. It was serviced for the first time by Rolex in New York City in 2000. The watch came back looking cleaner and brighter, but it still lost time .... 5-6 minutes every 20-30 days. The same is true today. Where do I send my watch for service these days? Thanks, David Watch details: Model 16760, Gents S/St O.P. GMT II, 24hr bezel Dial is black w/ white markers Bracelet is model #78360, S/St w/ 93150 clasp, links 5 x 6 Case serial #8405605 Caliber 3085 End Piece 501 |

Welcome to TRF!
What you have is the socalled "Fat Lady" GMT! Very nice watch, indeed! Read more about GMT's and the "Fat Lady" 16760 in this article: "GMT In Transition". Please post a pic of your GMT! We love pics here! As for service, here are the phone #'s of the 3 official RSC's (Rolex Service Centres) in the USA: Rolex Watch Service Centers: New York, NY: 212-758-7700 Dallas, TX: 214-871-0500 Beverly Hills, CA: 310-271-6200

Welcome to the forum David.
New York is still the place to send it.. Or Beverly Hill CA, and Dallas TX, where they also have Rolex owned Service Centers. Losing 5-6 minutes a month though is unacceptable...Your GMT is capable of much better performance than that. ..............

Got a ballpark number regarding cost? Last time I did this I paid around $250 for what RWC called an "overhaul".
Thanks. |

I once owned this GMT plus the basic Submariner (no date display). I purchased it in 1982. Sadly, it was stolen when my house was burgled in 1985.

Welcome, welcome,
Hope you enjoy your sat at Mission Control. We here spend more and more time obsessivly posting and reading on here. If you want a life, step away now, while you still have time!! Hope you manage to get your GMT II made better, it is capable of more accurate time keeping than that. I had a GMT II, which lost only 1 second or so every 24 hours ish. Though i know they were not the same model. Either way, continue to enjoy your watch!

What a great reference. Only made circa 1983-88, the "Fat-lady" is getting a lot of notice in the community. As Larry said have them adjust the timing. It's capable of much better.
