Well there's nothing inherently wrong or fake about it, seems to be in OK original condition. Some people might have a gripe about the lume plots not being perfect.

If it's on Ebay or any other ecommerce sites being sold by a not well known good guy/dealer then do reverse image searches of all the pics to check they're not stolen, ask for a new pic of the watch with time set to your choosing sitting on piece of paper with your name, sellers name and date on etc. Also search for the serial number as a whole and also first 3 or 4 or 5 digits along with the terms 6239, Daytona, Rolex.

How much?

I will pass on this one...
Dial is in bad shape (dots and subcounter dials) as is the case (lugs).

Pretty marginal, at best. Dial with significant degradation and damage. Case with losses from polishing, particularly bezel definition. Ugly hands. It isn't very difficult to find a nice, respectable 6239, I wouldn't advise settling on this example.

By the way, the dial and bezel do seem consistent with respect to age and production date.

It all depends on how much?

How perfect and unworn/new looking do you want your 50 year old watch to look, or more to the point how perfect and unworn can you afford it to look?

I think this one is OK, not perfect but obviously been a daily wearer for decades and polished some times. Lugs are consistent with many 62xx watches from the 60's and 70's, not at all terrible imo and the same as you often see for sale from the much heralded "trusted sellers" on here for high prices. I doubt you will ever see an unpolished 6239 for sale.

If it's running well (or the seller will discount appropriately for due service), you're sure the seller is legit, it's a good price and YOU like it then go for it

Sellers is legit no worries there
I've seen it live and it looks nice ( not perfect of course....)
In the mean time i've searched the web and found it as sold on HQ Miltons site some time ago. (100% the same watch)

I'm in europe so prices are higher than the us
Asking price is around 25k €

X2 a few thousand €€€ extra on a better example will pay off much better down the line if you decide to resell

As others have mentioned, this 6239 is in mediocre/average condition at best. There are far too many 6239's available to justify purchasing an example in this condition.
